Abdominal CT scan with contrast

Hello @twobeb87, Welcome to Connect. It's so unsettling to see test results and not get an adequate interpretation from your doctor or care team. While fellow patients on this forum cannot provide a medical interpretation or advice, we can offer support and experiences. You will notice that we removed your MRI report to protect your privacy because it contained personal information and could be seen by anyone on the Internet.

In cases similar to yours when I didn't understand what the report meant even after reading it multiple times, I was able to talk to the doctor and have them explain it a little better in layman's terms that I could understand. Are you able to talk to the doctor and express your concern and have him tell you why he is doing the biopsy on your kidney instead?

He hasn’t returned my phone calls, nor has he even told me who and where the referral was made with. I only received a portal message saying a referral was made for the kidney biopsy. In the meantime, I met with my pulmonologist, where all of this started with a ct scan identifying a lung mass. He has referred me to oncology/hematology/urology based up the left lung pathology report, and kidney CT scan. He ordered a PET scan and a ultrasound of the kidney, or at least recommended those in his urgent referral.

This totally stinks. Try another opinion. Doesn't sound like your oncologist is a good fit. If you have a good relationship with the pulmonologist, you might be able to get another recommendation. Discussions with patients seem to be one of the least available aspects of treatment.
