A Caregiver’s Prayer - For those who stay

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come to You with a heart stretched thin, heavy with love, weariness, and hope.
Grant me comfort when I am hollowed out by sorrow,
guidance when the path is unclear,
and strength when my body and spirit tremble.

Teach me patience,
not just in the waiting,
but in the repeating,
the remembering,
and the letting go.

Open my heart to understanding
when confusion reigns,
and pour Your compassion through my hands
as I offer care to the one I love.

Be near me on the hardest days,
when I feel invisible,
when my prayers are quiet sighs,
and my smile hides the ache.
Let me hear Your whisper—
I am with you.
You are safe.
You are loved.
You are doing holy work.

Help me see beyond the fog of this disease
to the soul still shining through—
the moments of connection,
a glance, a word, a hum of song—
precious and sacred.

Give me wisdom for decisions
that weigh more than they seem.
Make my hands gentle,
my ears attentive,
my presence a balm.

Let Your grace be my rhythm,
steadying me in the chaos,
illuminating the dark corners
with Your quiet light.

And as I meet others who walk this road,
may we lift one another—
with stories, tears, and laughter—
so none of us forget
that we are part of something greater.

Help me celebrate the smallest victories,
grieve the small and mighty losses,
and find joy where it still blooms.

Lord, renew me—
mind, body, soul.
Let me rest in the knowledge
that my care matters,
that my love leaves an imprint
time cannot erase.

In Your arms, I find peace.
Be with me, my loved one,
and every caregiver who rises again tomorrow.

Amen.
