65, poor balance and dizziness
Mri report states chronic microvascular changes with t2 hyperintensities in perivetrabal and subcorticular areas. A congenital anomoly that is stable. I have none of the risk factors that I have read about. Should I be concerned?

You should be cautious. Think before you move, especially standing up, using stairs. Check for obstacles in your way. If you have pets make sure they are not around your feet when you move. Remove loose rugs. Try not to do chores that require climbing on a footstool…no matter how tempting. Take frequent time outs to rest, which doesn’t always mean sleeping. Read, use walking aids even if you think you look old, vulnerable or slow. Do it for yourself, don’t care so much about what others think! And even if you’re not a TV person it’s OK to watch mindless shows, comedies, and nature shows, even documentaries while resting. And keep posting on a discussion group like Mayo Connect. You might be able to help someone. If not it doesn’t hurt to realize others may be struggling with issues just like yourself. Best wishes.
