6 weeks p/o with T10 to S1 fusion due to scoliosis correction.
I am really looking for assurances and encouragement as I’m entering that stage of wanting to do more but still too easily fatigued by the simplest exertion.
For those of you ahead of me on this journey, could you share what it’s like?
Going to bed and sitting present the feeling of the hardware and it kind of grosses me out. Do you always feel it?
I still have no feeling in my back from my scapula to just below my hips. When does that come back?
My energy level is still low. I tried returning to work this week and mid-morning I need a nap.
I have stepped away from a walker at home, is it wise to do that in public or should I transition to something else?
I did not consider how much energy goes into healing from a surgery. Nor did I consider this was a major surgery and its impact on me mind, body, and spirit. I am considering every movement, every food I eat, and every thought i have as being crucial to my healing.
Thank you forum friends! You have been a crucial part of my healing!

Back surgery is hard to endure and healing does take time and energy. Unfortunately I’m not much help as mine was failed Fusion and hardware L4-L5 back in 1998. Medical procedures have gotten much better since then. Do exercises to build stamina.
