5 Simple Daily Practices for Wellbeing

Posted by pbradley1954 @pbradley1954, Mar 5 9:48am

I found this to be a nice easy practice to try. I would add to it things you are grateful for...
To summarize--
Posture--stand with shoulders back
Breath—4 seconds in; 6 seconds out
Smile--Force yourself.
Movement--This is the big one for me. Play tennis or do something you enjoy...preferably outside with people
Sunlight--first thing in the morning

@pbradley1954, nice. These daily practices can make a big difference in wellbeing. Here's a companion discussion to build on your idea of adding a 6th practice of gratitude:

Sometimes, some days, even simple practices can be hard to do. Making a daily practice truly daily and giving yourself grace when you have an off day can also help. What tips do you offer for being consistent and getting the benefits?

Appreciate the advice — this is going to be really hard for some people (like me).

I do smile, and then pretend I’m okay. I practice good posture. I exercise for over an hour everyday (and feel super depressed afterward). I have no friends to play tennis (or whatever) with. I do get outside for sunlight. And I have a really hard time with gratitude since the only thing I would really be grateful for is not wake up in the morning, or be given some bit of hope that I might not be broken/damaged for the rest of my life — because that hope is elusive for me.

I know how hard it can be. Keep doing what you are doing, Do you have a support system...family or friends? Are you in therapy? Are you taking anything? There is also a new home device coming out in June that is supposed to stimulate areas of the brain. Keep trying different things until something works for you...Keep at it.

Another thing that is really helpful...get yourself a dog. They are so loving and snuggly...You can even get an emotional support dog that you can take with you everywhere.
