3-year survival rate of those who have had esophagectomies at Mayo

Posted by protonbeam @protonbeam, Feb 1, 2023

My wife has cancer of esophagus. For past 3 years IU Med Center has been lasered out cancer; however, Barrett's high-grade dysplasia keeps coming back. Trying to decide whether or not to switch to Mayo. I hate to seem morbid, but does anyone know what the 3-year mortality rate is for Mayo? I have heard a lot of good about Mayo

I have made it to nearly 11 years after the esophagectomy. I wasn't treated at Mayo but had a good surgeon on the West Coast. I had chemo and radiation first and was stage three. Life has never been the same, but I feel fortunate to be alive.

Yes! Had esophagus removed December 2020. Mayo Arizona assembled great team for surgery, chemo and proton beam radiation.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer in July 2022. I went to Mayo for proton radiation and chemo (I am not a candidate for surgery) I recently had a biopsy and there is no evidence of cancer! Mayo Clinic is the best! They also helped me when I was diagnosed with AML leukemia.
