23 year old son diagnosed with germinoma

This is my first post and it's going to be a long one...My son was diagnosed with germinoma, hypopituitarism, adrenal insufficiency, and most recent a heart murmur all between December 2025-April 2026. In a way it was a blessing the way everything was caught. Mid Dec 2025 he passed out after being sick, which has never happened before. (Since December 2025 he has passed out 4 additional times.) His heart rate and blood pressure was extremely low, he tested positive for covid and that's why they believed he passed out. They admitted him for observation, ran several tests, scans, spinal tap. He was cleared by the cardiologist. After me telling them several times he passed out and more than likely hit this head, they did scans. CT showed an abnormality on his brain, MRI showed 2 abnormalities, one near the pituitary and hypothalamus. After meeting with the Drs they believed it was MS but sent referrals to several specialist, neurologist, neuro surgeon, endocrinologist about an hour away because there aren't many in our area and if he needed them we wanted it to be at one place. After another fainting spell and vomiting mid January 2026 we took him to the hospital where the referrals were sent because we were still waiting to be contacted to set up appointments. On a Sunday in the ED we met with the neurologist and CT and MRI were done and he was admitted. After numerous tests, scans, labs, a spinal tap they still couldn't get a diagnosis of the abnormalities. While being an inpatient he was feeling good, for meals they let myself and his mother take him out to the different cafeterias. One morning he asked if we could take him for breakfast and they said they had ordereds for no food or liquids. A bit later his neurologist and neuro surgeon team came in and we were told because they still were unsure of the abnormalities they wanted to do a brain biopsy. It broke my heart to see how nervous and scared he was finding that out he was having surgery because during the whole situation he was very calm and had a positive attitude and whatever the diagnosis was he was going to beat it. About 2 weeks post surgery we were told the diagnosis of germinoma, a few weeks after that we met with the oncology team for his treatment plan. My son chose radiation over chemo plus radiation as the oncologist teams said germinoma is very reactive to both treatments. Scans right before his treatment shown it had spread and he had a few additional smaller brain tumors, and one on his spine. We were lucky enough to be able to be housed at a Hope Lodge during the duration of his treatments. We went there as strangers to so many other patients and caregivers but left as a big family! As being his caregiver during the duration I have no words to express the gratitude from staff, patients, caregivers. We are very private people who tend to stay to ourselves but being around everyone was a relief that we weren't going through this alone, we opened up and conversed with them, got to know them, noticed the bad days, noticed when we hadn't seen them in several days (majority of the time they were admitted to the hospital). The encouraging words during bad days ment the word to both of us when we needed it the most.
He did 33 radiation treatments and his last one was April 9th. His last scan during treatment, the tumors showed either no growth, decreased size, or they were completely gone. His treatment and even now almost 6 weeks post treatment have been very difficult. Daily vomiting, on and off fatigue and appetite, dehydration, ED visits, more fainting episodes. It's been a wild ride to say the least and it's not over yet. He has an appointment tomorrow to inquire about a GI evaluation due to vomiting bile to see if it's radiation inflammation, an appointment with his cardiologist in a few weeks for an echocardiogram for his heart murmur. Right now during his journey he does have his bad days but always appreciates the good days with a positive attitude that he won't be defeated and will overcome all of this. He said from the start of finding out his diagnosis, he's kicking cancers a**!!!
