1st visit to Mayo for COPD, need to understand what to expect

Posted by bruced69 @bruced69, 1 day ago

Hello, I will be coming down in August for my 1st visit. I have Stage 4 Copd with 19%, wondering what to expect from this visit and, I guess where do I fall into the category of seriousness of what I have. I was told 12 years ago that I had COPD, but it never dawned on me of how serious this is, please help me understand?

I have been a patient at Mayo my entire life and always received excellent care. You may want to read this article "How to make the most of your Mayo Clinic appointment": https://www.mayoclinic.org/patient-visitor-guide/how-to-make-the-most-of-your-appointment

What Mayo location is your appointment at?

Hello welcome. I felt grief and relief when I was diagnosed. It was not on my radar. I did lose some weight and I got better a bit. Unfortunately I am very vulnerable to infections now.

Glad your all set with an appointment. I was at Mayo Rochester this week and there are many construction project. See your appointment details for advice in arrival advice, navigating parking and constructions. Plan ahead and allow extra time.
