10 years cancer free today!
On May 11, 2016 I had a right hemicolectomy to remove a cancerous growth right above the cecum. The tumor was stage 1. No chemo, no radiation. I feel blessed by God that I did not have to endure the treatments some of you have bravely faced. Still, there are the doctor appointments, blood tests, colonoscopies, etc. to remind me that my immune system at one time was unable to kill off the cancer.
I am so thankful for colonoscopies. I am so thankful for smart, caring skillful doctors. I am so thankful that God moved me to get my first screening colonoscopy at age 61.
PSA: encourage your family and friends to get their screening colonoscopies. I had no symptoms. If you wait until you have symptoms, then surgery only will not be curative. I hate for anyone to have to go through chemo or radiation if they can avoid it by catching this at stage 1.
