Grover’s Disease
Hello-I am a 54 year old, active female recently diagnosed with Grover’s Disease. It started shortly after having an MRI. And it started on my neck and went up behind my ear. It is now on my stomach and back and arms. Is there a correlation between the MRI and Grover’s? I’m also a runner but have been running in freezing temperatures, not heat as suggested in much of what I’m reading.
Thanks for any help you may offer including any suggestions on helping to get rid of it.

Yes. am interested. I am building up my cilantro experience. Both pills and fresh. No miracles yet.
I didn’t find that the pills worked for me, but the fresh did. I saw small but noticeable improvement after 3 weeks, then at about 2 months I was 90% better. I had been so, so, so miserable that I was easy for me to ingest the fresh cilantro. I was willing to try anything as nothing my dermatologist had prescribed was helpful AT ALL. I’ve had my rash for a couple of years, but just got diagnosed a few months ago. That’s when I found these online groups and finally got some help and found relief. I didn’t have luck with any of the topical ointments my Dr. prescribed. Anyway, I’ve been drinking my cilantro smoothies for a couple of months now, and I’m about 90% better. If you are up for the adventure. I really think it’s worth trying. I bought a lot of organic cilantro, washed it then Froze it in sandwich bags with about 1 packed cup in each bag. Then each day, I take the frozen bag, put it in my nutribullet blender with about 1/2 cup water, and blend until it’s smooth and drink it fast. After about 3 weeks I noticed a dramatic improvement. I found out about cilantro in another Mayo group: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/995024/?utm_source=connect.mayoclinic.org&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=digest&utm_content=summary_interest_discussion Back in 2019, a group of people on that chat tried the cilantro smoothies and about 40% had significant or total relief. FYI, I also started taking Chlorella tablets since a lot of people were taking those along with the cilantro. I bought NOW brand organic 500mg.

Thank you!
My Grover's first appeared in late August 2022, and I was diagnosed soon thereafter. I tried innumerable drugs as well as the cilantro/chlorella smoothies, but the only things that gave me lasting relief were prednisone and topical steroids, neither of which could be used indefinitely. This past August my dermatologist started me on Dupixent. It took approximately six weeks to take full effect, but I have been itch free since. I have suffered no side effects and no injection pain. It saved my life.
T site does suggest heat & sweat. But I find winter cold is worse. I have had this aggravating condition for 50 yrs w no relief. Mostly prevalent n males. I’m female. It worsens as I age. Only relief I’m offered through dermatologist is steroid cream w little relief. Can’t imagine MRI could cause t breakout.
I’m so glad you have found relief!
You have my sympathy. I was first diagnosed by biopsy in 1992 following a major surgery for a melanoma on my back. I had no itch for 15 years but in 1997 and 1998 I had a terrible itch for 18 months. After giving up on my dermatologist I went to a new one at UCSF who prescribed 300 mg of Gabapentin every night. It worked pretty quickly and I had no itch for the next 13 years. I took the Gabapentin the entire time and had no issues. In late 2021, it quit working and I have been itching since then. I took cilantro capsule for five months along with chlorella capsules. Did not work. I have tried pretty much every lotion and the only one that gives me enough relief to sleep is Eucerin Itch Relief. That with Hydroxyzine is getting me by
Thanks for reply. I have been on 300 GABEPENTIN for several yrs. Due to another issue. No relief for Grover’s though. Since checking this site I noticed Calamine lotion was mentioned. I came onto this ‘no rubCalamine spray’ @ Target. Target brand. It tends to dry it up & relieves itch to a degree. I spray it on several times a day. This winter has been t worst, of course I live n cold climate. I think t only clear area on my body my feet😊I continue to see dermatologist to no avail. Good luck to you.
Here’s a pic of spray if interested.
