Which Medical Marijuana is best to go to sleep and stay asleep

Posted by HomeAgainLA @llynch17056, Jan 6 9:30am

After a nasty case of Covid in March 2020 I developed sleeping issues. I do all the right things (diet, exercise, turn off tv and phone, room temp, etc), but still have inconsistent sleep. I finally tried 1/2 5mg Ambien last night, fell asleep at 9:30 pm, but awake at midnight. At 2:00 am took the other half and finally slept a few more hours. I have a prescription for Medical Marijuana, but it hasn’t helped either. I tried the ones recommended for sleep that have THC and CBN, as well as various mg levels of pure THC.

Any suggestions on how better to use THC or even something else? My doctor does not seem to be tuned into this problem.

Hi HomeAgainLA. I also have my medical marijuana card. Have you heard of or tried RSO oil? It's an edible oil and is pretty potent. The way it's made retains all the beneficial properties of the cannabis. There's lots of information about it on the web. For me, I like the indica strains for sleep. I only use the indica strains at night because it makes me sleepy, and I do stay asleep all night. I hope this helps. Wish you the best.

Yes, I get it from the dispensary. There's different laws and products available depending on what state you live in also. Most dispensaries have a website with their product availability and info. The budtenders where I go are really helpful in suggesting products for specific ailments and answering questions about dosing. I would suggest starting with small doses first and see how it affects you. RSO oil usually comes in a plastic syringe, and its really sticky. I squeeze my dose onto the end of a toothpick and wipe it off on my tongue, then I take a drink of cold liquid and swallow it. You can also use it to make edibles, but I usually don't have the energy for all that.

Indica strains are known for their relaxing and sedative effects and are often preferred over sativa strains for sleep. I don't think Mayo will appeciate specific product recommendations but your dispensary should be able to give advice. Most commercial medical marijuana products contain a 50/50 mixture of THC/CBN.

Thanks. I’ll ask my consultant on Monday when they open up for the week.
