@flowergal - You are on the right track; do ask all of them - Remember that the oncologist can change your Aromatase Inhibitor, or change your dose - IF Anastrozole is a contributor to your breast pain. I have had/have breast pain, and my MRIs, Diagnostic Mammograms, and Breast Ultrasounds do not show any reoccurrence of cancer. Like you, I also have been told by all the doctors that it is one of the side effects of radiation treatments.
Are you being followed by an Endocrinologist? If not, you may want to find a good one to help you with your osteopenia, particularly since you have had a back fracture AND you are taking Anastrozole.

My endocrinologist wanted me to stay on HRT, he doesn't think it caused the cancer.
Everyone else thinks it did.
Hence a search for a new one- difficulty in getting in. Am going to ask oncologist for a recommendation as my PCP couldn't get me into the one he knew.
My next Dexa is in August. My last Dexa was osteopenia which was an upgrade from previous osteoporosis. The hormones and collagen helped my bones, now I read not to take either 🙁

Hi there . The test which was done analyzed more than one gene . A whole bunch of them beginning with letter APC all the way to VHL. I counted about 48 or so if Im reading it right. I really appreciate you for telling me I can have surgery now and reconstruction later.
There are many different types of collagen too and it is also in good.
Last I heard, they did not have any definitive information to totally rule out collagen or even all collagen. There are at least 5 different types of collagen and collagen tablets repair osteo arthritis knees and is even injected into them as hyaluronic acid. They have not done away with that procedure.

@prc73 - Hello! I am so glad to know you had a multigene panel! So you can safely say that of the variants currently known, you do not have any that are hereditary and could potentially predispose you to breast cancer. You should be very happy!
I understand how difficult it is to navigate all the information and the decisions you need to make. Yes, you can undoubtedly do the surgery now and the reconstruction later. Some women decide not to do the reconstruction at all; others wait until they recover fully from the first surgery. Others, wait until they are sure of what they want to do. Don't worry, it is OK to wait. If you'd like to share your plans, please do so.
