Hi
He did not completely remove it. He just explain how he got to get into my breast through my nipple. So yes it's still there

Hope you are feeling relieved about having the surgery behind you. Ironically the calcification that has DCIS in my right breast is near the nipple. Sending hugs!

Well, I don't know what it looks like yet. Because there's a big dress in on it. But it is a lot smaller than my left breast.

Hi
I have osteopenia with a compression fracture in my spine so I do not want to take anything that will effect my bone density. Does it affect your vaginal area? My urologist wants to put me on vagifem . I am very overwhelmed

Hi! Sorry I didn’t see your question sooner. I have not noticed any vaginal changes. You could try tamoxifen- typically @ 20 mg dose. My oncologist told me initially that if I experienced problems, she could lower the dose and it would still be effective. Tamoxifen is not damaging to bones, so you might want to try it.
I’ve been on 20 mg tamoxifen for 10 months with no issues, and I was very anxious about taking it initially. I just had my first mammogram since the lumpectomy, and it was normal, thank God!
Good luck!

Hi
I am so hyper. Sensitive to medication and the side effects of this tamoxifen are horrid, so will only do 5 mg if they allow that. If not, I'm not taking it. My friend was on it fir a yr and she said horrible sude effects severe vaginal dryness, ni thanks glad your mammogram was good

Yes that's strange how anxiety works that way, isn't it? Sometimes I know it is coming on and sometimes I do not. Anyway, a few things have helped me, not in any special order or priority: acupuncture, support groups, some counseling, meditation, guided imaging, praying, medication (I take generic version of xanax - a very low dose and sometimes I only take half of that - but it is enough to take the edge off). One exercise in particular tht has helped me is breathing awareness and autogenic phrases from the book Freedom from Pain (sorry Maybe look into some resource books on relaxation? Also regular exercise helps as does no alcohol. I've read a lot on alcohol use and it actually increases your cortisol levels.

So helpful, @melanid. May I ask where you are in your cancer journey? Diagnosis, treatment, after treatment?
