Completely STOP absolutely all forms of caffeine!!!!! Our bodies become more sensitive to them as we age. Now even half a cup of decaffeinated green tea for breakfast keeps me awake.
I like to end my day watching something funny on the Telly.
My DVR records MASH reruns, Carol Burnet, and Steve Colbert. Watching a half hour of one leads to laughter. Then in bed I do ten breaths taking air into belly, then chest, then belly and out. Sweet Dreams!
Well in all fairness, you posted a link only with no introduction, background, nor personal experience. People that usually do this are scammers, and others are wary.
I understand what you are doing by listening this program. I listen to tv on comedy channels while sleeping. Can't say if that makes me wake a happy person, but if tv goes off, I wake up. My mind is always processing issues, problems, the world and the crazy and evil stuff. It does not shut down at bedtime. I was so upset the other evening with my brain, I turned on cartoon network. While I watch tv I am also doing stuff on my laptop. I somehow can have breakthrough of sorting stuff in my head at the same time. It is sick! I have always found that when I am angry I work physically (cleaning, mowing, sewing, building things) like a crazy person. Impossible at bedtime. I do have access to meds to sleep and I would like to stop that. It has been attempted numerous times and all I did was lay there and get madder and madder. I think what ever works do it. If I could hit myself in the head with a hammer nightly and sleep peacefully I may would give it a shot. This has been a lifelong problem for me. I just bought a weighted blanket, but I haven't tried it yet.
I was having Physical Therapy at my rural hospital and mentioned that I was having a terrible time shutting my brain off when trying to go to sleep. He told about this website and that I should try to listen to one of the bedtime stories on my phone while in bed. I did and the very first time it helped me shut off my brain and allowed me to fall asleep within minutes. I just say “whatever works”.
Thank you for the update. Sounds interesting. Any sleep help, without meds, is a blessing. I hope I find mine one day. I will check this out. Tried online meditation but it didn’t work for me.

I use abide sleep meditation on YouTube. It works sometimes I’m asleep within 30 minutes. Sometimes it may take an hour. I set the timer on my TV remote. It goes off when I want it to it really works.

You need to watch things that don’t speed up your metabolism. I like the abide channel on YouTube. I listen to the fall asleep meditation it really does work. It got me off of my sleeping pills. You have to get off of them slowly.
@lukirk, I’m glad you find that breathing technique works for sleep also. I count each breath by sensing each finger. First on one hand, then the other. Ten breaths.
However, I first learned about in a college Human Anatomy class when we were shown a cadaver. When the abdomen was flapped open the colon was very wide. The professor said that indicated the person had been constipated and that someone at Stanford had written a thesis on using the helpful ten breaths to prevent constipation!
So here it is again, a breathing exercise to initiate sleep and also prevent constipation:
Just before drifting off to sleep, smoothly and quietly inhale a breath into the abdomen. Then gently and smoothly move that breath into the lungs, then back to the abdomen, then exhale. Do it ten times, then allow yourself to sleep.

The breathing technique really does work. I’ve been doing it for years.
