Does anyone find that a type of shoe helps your foot neuropathy?

Posted by lorirenee1 @lorirenee1, Mar 25, 2019

I am on a constant quest for shoes that don't kill my feet due to the neuropathy. I find that Spencos and Wolky shoes seem the best. Are there any other suggestions? Shoes can be just crippling for me. Horrid.

Hoka Bondi is the best and practically only shoes I wear. They are wide in the front.

Medicare pays because I have diabetic neuropathy. I have severe numbness in both feet but without pain,
praise God for small things.

It's nice to be rid of my pain but it came at a price. The neuropathy caused numbness, weakness, ED, bladder and bowel issues.
The pain went away as my neuropathy increased in severity as more nerve fibers die. My pain was horrible and limiting but I could deal with it easier than my current 5 problems.

Welcome to my world we sound like soldiers in the same battle “exchanging war stories”. I have just finished my first round of PT for “walking and balance.” On Monday I have my implant and the battle goes on. I pray for you, you pray for me. And the beat goes on…

Have SPN. Dry, sometimes numb legs/feet. My Right foot "rolls" when I walk - now painful, would simple arch support inserts solve this or should I go to a podiatrist??

I tested a handful of shoes recently by buying them, trying them out before the 30 day return policy, and taking them back. I found that the brand On Cloud work best for my neuropathy and also the brand Brooks.

Yes!!! FIT FLOP…..they have a site . Been wearing them for 25 yrs….total game changer!….your feet imprint in them and it corrects the differential from one side of the body to the other so you are getting great posture which takes down the pain …for me…none……! Also they have wonderful shock absorption……so get the original one….they’ve come out w thinner versions but forget those. And lastly they have a wobble board in the bottom of the dense heel, which keeps you from tipping…..!!! And thats a Godsend for me.!….they come in slip ones, or sneakers, boots dress shoes…you name it….I live in Fl so love all the open toed ones! …..they have a medical clog thats awesome in white and black….legal in hospitals…..and heavily used for anyone working esp on cement floors. I use them for slippers and outdoor shoes. They are on amazon . they originated in UK and thats the home office. I bought from them too on their site and went super well. I’ve had over 40 surgeries due to Ehlers Danlos and these shoes have helped me to sail through all the surgeries on my joints. Once you imprint in them remember not to let anyone step in them…..that imprint is yours only. And the arch support is awesome……Good Luck!

Merrell sneakers, actually one to one and a half sizes larger than what I used to wear prior to the injuries to my left foot...Merrell wide width has such an ample foot bed which does not crowd my toes at all, and plenty of room in front of the toes so that the hammer toe and the 3 neuromas don't yell at me and retaliate with nasty pain.

I am fortunate to have TJMax just minutes from our home, so I can check in when I'm in that shopping center, to see what's available in Merrell and Skechers. Much prefer the Merrell. The last pair that I bought (last fall) were a size 10 and are so incredibly comfortable! Slip on, no nasty tightness across top of the feet (have painful nerve pain there also). My orthotics fit well in them. I have another pair of Merrell (also got it at TJMax) with ties but that pair does not bind because I leave the ties really loose and tucked in under the criss-cross. BOTH are my favorites since my feet are very happy! And did I say that each pair cost less than $50? When I checked them out online, both would have totaled nearly $240...so I'm happy with my finds. 😊

I have one pair of wide-width non-binding Skechers that I use in place of slippers in the house. Those are also slip-ons, but they are incredibly padded (a blessing for my painful feet) and do not bind, plus easy to slip on/off. They protect my feet against the chance of stubbing and breaking yet another toe (yes, in the past I broke 2 toes😳). I cannot walk barefooted -- way too painful, not to mention dangerous.

If you want to try and return with free shipping/returns and NO re-stocking charges, check out Zappos.
Avoid Sierra --- they have such outrageous return shipping costs.

SAS sandels. They come in all widths. A bit expensive but they last a long time. Wore them before SFN diagnosis. ☺

I absolutely agree! After spending thousands of dollars on shoes looking for some semblance of comfort…SAS Sandals are the only ones I can claim!

My podiatrist suggested New Balance which I bought for $250+- and they were not comfortable. Off I went to shoe shore and just started trying on everything and bought Eazy Spirit tennis shoes, put a silicone support for my toes in it and all seems fine with these.

However, yesterday I wore my Ecco sandles with a silicone support all day and went to dinner in them and at about 1 am my legs cramped and brougt me to tears. The only thing I can think is that normally I take Magnesium before bed and for the last couple of days did not. I was up again at 3 am and took a pain pill ( Gabapentin) and the Magnesium and finally fell back to sleep asking my husband to wake me at 9 a.m. for the arrival of some work being done on the floors of our home. Anyone experiencing leg cramps and if so what are you doing to prevent them???

Thanks to all and anyone who can help with this and have a good day.

Absolutely leg cramps, especially after a day of any kind of walking! Magnesium Glycinate religiously is the only things that helps!
