Hey Ronnie, good news! I really liked this new guy. He assured me that I was ok-just need to exercise and lose weight! So I’m looking on youtube for exercises you can do from a chair. He told me that any exercise was good. So I feel like a huge weight has been lifted from me! Hope you are feeling OK! Let me know! ........Karen

Hey, @karen00, so happy for your good news! It is not the easiest thing in the world to lose weight, but it is very satsifying. It took me over a year to lose 65 pounds. I need to lose at least 50 more. I have to take a couple of meds that have the unfortunate side effects of putting on weight. I also have Type Two Diabetes so I have to really count carbs faithfully. It is not easy, but it is totally doable. The hardest part is changing one's mental attitude towards food. I used to love bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, and would build my meals around combinations of meat and vegetables with a carby side dish. Not anymore. I can no longer eat that way and have a decent A1C. It may not be for everyone, but there are many food plans out there and exercise plans to help keep us on track. We are all in good company here. We can do it together!

Hi,@granmar, I just wanted to add my little bit here about weight loss. I am not "there" yet by any means, but I have lost enough weight that I do not have to constantly rely on strong medicines to live every day. Turned out, two of my meds were recalled as possibly containing carcinogens.

I don't have to wear clothes from the large lady sections anymore, and I am able to get around much better. My fibromyalgia flares are fewer and farther between. It took me a long time to change my thinking about food. But I am comfortable with my decision to eat to live instead of the other way around. I try to stay active and plan to get back to my water aerobics class soon.

Thanks for all your encouragement!

Good Morning Mamacita!
You are correct that there is no one way to lose weight. I bet for each person trying, there is another 'diet' to try. There is one thing I know for sure (and it is often said), it cannot be a 'diet' that helps us to lose weight! We need a lifestyle change. Diets are temporary and so is the weight loss. Diets do have a place. Some of the better ones will help us to learn 'how' to eat. That, is the problem. We eat too much, at the wrong times, of the wrong things (wrong meaning for our particular health concerns). Finally, a 'diet' usually omits at least one food group. Omissions eventually lead to adding those food groups back in.

You are doing a great job! They say that losing 10% of your weight adds years to your life. Not all afflictions can be 'cured' by weight loss, but can certainly help!

Keep up the good work, you'll get there. Just set yourself small attainable goals to make your loss manageable.

Hi Teresa,
Thank you for asking.
Feeling better but not to where I was before the fall. I cannot remember if you saw my post, but I took an xray. The doctor said the report was different from the one I took not long ago. The actual xray was ordered. We'll be at the doctor on Monday to see what is what.

Thanks again,
Ronnie
