Hi @815. Know how daunting all these new and changing symptoms can be. Please never doubt what you are experiencing as you will see so many of us here during varying journeys of long covid. Hopefully your healthcare system will rule out each symptom as not covid caused to assure other underlying conditions are treated. That said, suggest seek help for individual symptom without sharing post covid as many here have been dismissed and told “You have covid and no one knows how to treat and its full effect on overall body”. Many here have found breathing and physical exercises, food allergies/intolerance eating changes, medication adjustment, adding/changing supplements, crucial pacing, etc have helped and hope your review of past posts finds helpful info from those sharing your similar symptoms and experiences. Best of healing journey to you!!🌈
Yes. Since the summer of 2020. Very little change in that until recently. Of course, I tried everything. Of course, medical care tried to attribute the GI symptoms to almost anything but long COVID. There were a couple of probiotics that seemed to help a little. Acacia fiber seems to be helping, but I am also entering into what appears to be a recovery phase finally. I developed a lot of food intolerances, often was hungry without any appetite to eat, planning my day around my bowel issues, etc. I have been viewing most of the symptoms now as dysautonomia (as a result of COVID/LC). I suspect a new medication I've been taking has been slowly reducing the dysautonomia, as I am no longer having the breathing issues (my lungs were OK), less cognitive problems, and a tad bit more energy. No longer have nearly constant abdominal pain, bowels are better, and my hunger and appetite now match up. Hoping this is the real deal in terms of recovery.
I hope you experience a full recovery.
I have had covid twice and my first case in October 2021 was not respiratory, but instead impacted my GI system and I developed a rash on my body, inside my mouth and in my throat. I also experienced heightened nerve sensitivity all over my body. I haven't been the same since. My second case was mild and more like a bad cold or the flu. Prior to this, I had had some issues with my digestive system, brain fog, etc…. and through the elimination diet, I discovered a sensitivity to gluten and also lactose. Once I removed those, my body healed…. Then covid initiated something in me and I'm still suffering 2 years later. Along with severe gastrointestinal problems, I struggle with fatigue and at times particularly if my stress levels are higher, I experience numbness and tingling along the left side of my face, in my left shoulder, and down my left arm. I also have twitching in my left hand. I have seen an allergist who suggested a low fodmap diet and I'm now seeing a GI specialist. They just did an endoscopy and colonoscopy and detected thinning of my stomach. They took biopsies and they're considering if covid may have caused me to develop a stomach autoimmune disorder (atrophic gastritis). Even with the diet changes, I have at least 2-3 days each week with stomach pain and diarrhea and sometimes more. I am now really allergic to tomatoes so I've eliminated those. They caused itching all over my body, followed by a migraine and then stomach cramps and diarrhea. I have been dealing with these issues for 2 years now and while I would love to say I'm getting better, I honestly think it's gotten worse. I'm hoping to discover answers soon and hopefully be on a path to healing. I'm looking for a credible functional medicine doctor or a naturopath who might be able to offer natural solutions for healing my body.
Married to health on line rdn natural
I suggest looking up Dr. Leo Galland. He is a functional medicine Dr. in NY and has a protocol out there on line. I never ended up having an appointment with him because of the wait time. His protocol is very helpful. It’s sounds like antihistamines could help you as they have many LCers. A low histamine diet as well. Tomatoes are very high in histamine. Look at his protocol, try H1 and H2 blockers…Zyrtec and Pepcid a couple times a day. Obviously talk with your Dr first. Gallends protocol will walk you through in much greater detail these suggestions. Good luck!
yes, and I cannot lose weight. I believe it is a result of the drainage from my lungs that is causing the bloating and diarrhea
After I developed lymphedema in the lower extremities, an anti-inflammatory diet was recommended. I stopped gluten and the bloating feeling after eating is gone. I recently developed a rash on my neck after eating eggplant along with extreme body aches that evening after dinner. I researched nightshades. You may want to also. So far, I’m able to tolerate tomatoes, potatoes occasionally, and peppers so I have only eliminated eggplant from my diet.
Same, 60 pound weight gain in 6 months post Covid in 2022. Staying away from the scale after buying new bras at 70 and increasing top sizes by 2.
