B-6 vitamin danger!
With the assistance of a neurologist at Mayo Clinic, I have almost completely eliminated the uncontrolled muscle spasms now. First and foremost: beware of taking multi-vitamin capsules that have B6 listed. B-6 overdosage (which is contained in every multivitamin I found in stores and on the internet) can cause loss of muscle control and spasms in some people. So can gluten found in many foods so now I am also gluten free. I now work out with a personal trainer 3 days a week and do water aerobics another 2 days. Got off gabapentin and also clonazepam. Using CBD oil capsules each morning (no more opioids or chemicals) and using a CBD topical ointment to rub on my leg muscles each night. He says I don't need him anymore! And I don't. No more shaking or muscle cramps or pain. Still a little numbness but that is receding also.

Yes, switch out those B6 ones as fast as you can. We probably have different brands in Australia. I was taking Cenovis magnesium and switched to Bioglan Active Magnesium.
What brand of CBD are you taking topical and oral
Update...I was diagnosed with moderate peripheral neuropathy in June 2023. After numerous Dr. visits and blood tests, it was discovered that my Vitamin B6 level was over 4x what it should be. Vitamin B6 toxicity causes neuropathy. I have eliminated my multivitamin and all foods high in B6. My symptoms may or may not improve but at least I finally have a possible cause.
I’m hoping you see very positive results after getting your B6 back on track. I’m cheering for you!
Thank you Debbie, appreciated!
This also happened to me…I was taking a B complex with 900% of the daily recommended amount of B6…after visiting with a neurologist that advised stopping immediately, I did…thankfully my symptoms cleared…it took about 8 weeks…that was 4 months ago…I no longer take any B complex and my levels are normal…good luck…
They (Whom ever regulates vitamins) should post a caution in labels…but I guess they are unregulated.??
Hi @gotosarah. Thanks for sharing your update and your experience with vitamin B6 toxicity. What did you learn with regard to why your levels were so elevated?
Good luck with getting some improvement. I had several years of losing balance when closing eyes in the shower and always thought it was caused by blood pressure medication and that I was stuck with it. After getting B6 levels back to normal from sky high, I noticed this week that I don't lose balance when I close my eyes in the shower any more. As it turns out, dorsal column nerves which affect balance can be damaged by excessive B6 too.
I see my Dr again in February for follow up. He told me to discontinue my multivitamin vitamin containing B6. I was also eating a significant amount of salmon and tuna. I have eliminated these over the last month and will have bloodwork this Thursday to check my level again. Check all food and drink labels for B6.
Glad you are improving. B6 can be dangerous and I never knew it. Thankfully my neurologist knew what to test for. Good luck!
