Mayo refused to accept me into their Long Covid Recovery Clinic because I didn’t have a positive PCR test. I used the free government test. But, I was accepted to the USF Post Covid Recovery group. I travelled 3 hours after waiting 6 months for an in person visit. I was scheduled for a 6 month followup virtually. Because I had found a local Post Covid 19 Recovery Clinic, I was released to their care. I’m so thankful for the nurse practitioner who has helped me so much. Plus, it’s only 30 minutes from my home.

@letuslivehelpus1, I have no influence over determining patient appointments at Mayo Clinic.

Mayo Clinic often receives more requests for appointments than available openings. There is very high demand for Mayo's Post-COVID Recovery Clinic. Availability depends on several criteria and Mayo Clinic's ability to help (as determined by a Mayo Clinic doctor).

It is frustrating that insurance coverage and the type of insurance accepted is proving to be an obstacle for your getting the care you are seeking.

I am 67, on Medicare A and B plus supplemental and yes Mayo takes Medicare. My total bill after completing the 3 month program was $300ish. My cardiologist applied for me and I was admitted. @colleenyoung guidance is a good one, and certainly your Doctor can help. Their program is 3 months long and your specific plan is tuned to your particular situation. Mayo's program has been in place for over 2 years and they are in a good position to help many - treating thousands and getting their feedback on what's working and what isn't.

If I may, some things you can start right now . . . an element core to Mayos program that applies to everyone is good sleep. I personally wear an Apple Watch to bed and use a sleep analysis app to determine what 'good' is. One thing that interferes with everyone's sleep is alcohol. If you consume alcohol, stop. I enjoy a drink as much as many, but I haven't consumed alcohol in 4 months and that is part of my recovery plan. After a few days you will begin to have higher quality sleep. Medical websites are full of recommended habits for good sleep, read them and act accordingly. I use Web MD personally but there are other good sites to read about what promotes good sleep. I also take many supplements that are helpful, you can start there too. Mayo has prescriptions that they recommend that are part of their program also. After about 4 months I am better and look forward to the day when LC is a memory.

Hope this helps,

Art
