Sleep ease with melatonin and Unisom
Anyone have good sleep patterns with 5 mg of melatonin and up to 25 mg of doxylamine succinate (Unisom special - not diphenhydramine!)? Any other way to get me off clonazepam 2 mg before bedtime?

cindisue, I suspect my post came across as judgmental...sorry...it wasn't my intent at all. I was offering a strategy that I use to keep the meds potent not really knowing if that was part of the issue with you. By all means, do what works reliably, and I wish you full and continued success.
Melatonin does work I wish I could take it but I have an aneurysm so I can’t take it if you have an aneurysm, so be careful I used to take it before I found out I had an aneurysm I got lucky
I'm trying to understand what the mechanism is for melatonin to aggravate the odds of getting an aneurysm or affecting an aneurysm you have already had. What's the adverse connection between aneurysms and melatonin? I'm certainly not saying you should, but melatonin is a naturally occurring hormone that peaks during the early part of a person's sleep cycle. I did a web search on it, but nothing popped up.
Be happy it works.
I will have to look it up again. It’s been many years since I heard I couldn’t take melatonin or anybody else with aneurysm.
I just didn’t take it anymore. I used to it does work.
Better safe than sorry
I ran out of Ambien and to my surprise, zzyquil Doxylamine Succinate and melatonin helped me get to sleep. Glad it works for you too, Take care
When I searched the medical literature on Medline the consensus of reports are positive for melatonin’s safety.
It has been used to prevent worsening of abdominal aneurysms. It is generated from the pineal gland in our brains. Some brain aneurysms cause an increase in melatonin secretion possibly from inflammation.
There are new reasons to consider melatonin a broadly helpful hormone. It may serve to regulate metabolism and
and retard inflammation in our immune and nervous systems. It would be a good question for your doctor when you have follow ups. I take it for sleep and as one
of my supplements with arthritis and follow the research on melatonin after recommending it for family and friends.
Glad to hear that something else has the possibility of working. I may try it. Have been taking 10 mg of Ambien for many years.
Nothing seems to work for me but zolpidem.
It would be interesting to know the exact meds that you have tried that didn't work for you. What about Restoril (temazepam)? What about melatonin? What about Lunesta?
