Since Factor V Leiden is an inherited trait, it may be that your mom had this genetic mutation and passed it along to you. It can increase the chances of developing blood clots in the legs and lungs. According to an informational article from Mayo Clinic, many people with the condition never develop abnormal clots.

You’ve had a long life without clotting issues even though you have the Factor V Leiden gene. I see in some of your previous posts that you’re now taking Eliquis. Where did you experience your blood clots? Was this a one time event for you?
