Gum disorder resulting from Auto Immune diseases
During a normal dental cleaning visit the hygienist noted excess bleeding and asked me if I suffered from an auto Immune problem. I responded YES as I suffer from Inclusive Body Myositis. In her experience she had noted the correlation between Auto immune disease and excessive gum bleeding - any comments?
I have put in a request for opinion of Dr. Oskarsson of Mayo as well

@pb50, I did the same--brushing with baking soda after trying soooo many brands of toothpasts and rinses. Any "mint" in the paste burned like heck. On a lark I bought a tube of 365 Whole Foods Market Kid's strawberry Fluoride Toothpaste. It is mild enough for me to use and I somehow feel better using it over just baking soda. Dentist can't believe I only used baking soda all those years. Now I'm trying to get used to a partial following some extractions. My gums will never "settle" down because of the OLP. My eating choices has changed forever.
Hi pb50Pam. I would like to know what brand waterpik you use. I thought it would be a good idea but never found one that had a gentle enough cycle to use without it being a painful experience. Thanks.
I use a waterpik sonic 2.0 with integrated toothbrush. I like it because there is a dial (on left in pic) to adjust the water pressure on the waterpik. I’m sure there are multiple brands that would work.
Ask your hygienist or dentist to look for it. They’re probably already aware of it if you have it.
