Pudendal Nerve Entrapment/Neuropathy/Damage

Posted by mandiPNE @mandee, Oct 5, 2018

Hello from a new member. Am wondering if anyone suffers from the monster Pudendal Nerve Entrapment/Neuropathy/Damage? I do. And I'm very alone in it. It is a very uncommon condition, and because of its personal nature, one that many people may not be comfortable opening up about. There seems to be a more vocal/visible presence of patients in the US, AUS and France. I hope, I need, I want - for it be made more aware of here in Canada. If there is any one who suffers from it, or who thinks they might, please feel free to open up about it. Please join me in advocating for ourselves in this horrible condition.

Yes. I had to stop it after 2 weeks. Awful. Didn't even know where my house was. But, it was worth it to get rid of the pain.

My pelvic pain has become very bad after I thought it was getting better. It definitely is impacting my life, especially seeing and being with my grandchildren. It has also made me depressed. I can not sit with the pain making driving torturous. I have tried several things and every time I think I am progressing I fall backwards. I am now at the point where I am scheduled for a pudendal nerve block. I want to get feedback on the pudendal nerve block? I know if it works some it will identify it as the pudendal nerve but what else does it tell me? I know my pudendal nerve is involved. I have a hypersensitivity to muscle tension in the pelvic area and pressure. Even being stressed which only causes minimal muscle tension causes the pain to become worse It is sensory. At times it gets so bad the whole pelvic area hurts into the bladder area. It is just one horrendous block of pain. I would appreciate any feedback on the pudendal nerve block. I need help to give me direction. Wishing everyone happiness.

The only thing that worked for me after 14 years of pain and sitting on a donut was the anti-seizure medicine, Topamax. 2 weeks on that and I was healed.

I am not familiar with Topamax. Will discuss it with my doc. How much did you take?

I took it for 2 weeks but the side effects were brutal. It's for seizures. Makes sense if there is a spasm in your rectum. Later my pelvic therapist mentioned that she had read about it. I was taking it off-label for a daily headache.

I have pudendal neuralgia and yes it’s a monster. No one knows what it is. I finally got a diagnosis from a doctor in NYC. They sent me for a MRI if the pudendal nerve that Dr Pitts developed and it showed inflammation of both nerves but worse on the left. There is a Dr Pavlo at Emory John’s Creek, Ga who developed a method of freezing the nerve to reduce or eliminate the pain. I had that twice. I still have the pain I also have Rheumatoid arthritis and spine arthritis and take pain medication around the clock so I live more comfortably now.

I agree this pain is terrible. No one understands how bad. I at least have adequate pain control. I will keep you in my prayers.

I use the donut or rolled up towels when I drive. The pain is unbearable and that is why I am going to try the nerve block in January I am on Cymbalta and tried Lyrica for nerve pain and all it did was made me tired. I just do not know what to do. I try not to sit down anymore. I tried physical therapy. I have to work on anxiety because I get worse when I am anxious but the pain feeds the anxiety. I also am anxious about the nerve block which is scheduled for January 4 and am trying to find others who had it done for feedback. I just want the pain to become tolerable and not run my life. Wishing everyone happiness and the best.

Try getting to Ga for that treatment. Call because they have been tracing other doctors to do this procedure. It is done with CT. It really helped me a lot. Prefab in is generic for Lyrica. This has also helped. The side effect lessen over time. Give them time to work donut visions all are different. Try others to see which one works for you. It’s very frustrating to find a solution. I wish you the best in finding a solution that works.
