I did not have a surgery. I found a pain specialist willing to try giving a steroid block to the area. It did not help. What ended up helping me the most was losing weight and performing lots of exercises to build core strength so that my core better held up my neck/head and had a breast reduction. However, I was also diagnosed wit hEhlers Danlos so I wasn't wrong about hyoid bone sorta moving out of place sometimes.
