GI Disorder and Internal Shaking

Posted by gigiraj @gigiraj, Feb 15, 2019

Hi all. I'm a 21 year old South Asian female and I have been having GI issues for about five years--mainly along the lines of constipation. I do have bowel movements every day but it takes a long time & I am rarely fully cleared out. These GI issues are always accompanied by other health issues (gas, pressure in head, etc). Recently, some scary new conditions have manifested: In the past few weeks, there have been times where my heart starts beating wildly and very fast. Sometimes, when I'm tired and constipated, my entire body feels like its vibrating internally; the shakes aren't visible but it feels like all my muscles are quivering. At this point, I feel a constant shaking/quivering within my body, especially in my heart cavity.

I have had TWO EKG's and both came back normal. All lab tests for diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, etc came back within normal limits. I am very concerned about this internal shaking. My dad says he found something about how GI disorders can impact muscoskeletal system and since the heart is a muscle, it's contracting and being affected. But I wanted to know if anyone here can help!!!!!!! If anyone knows anything at all please please please let me know!!!!!

Welcome to Connect, @gigiraj. I did find some information that studies the link between digestive disorders and internal tremors:
– The bowel and beyond: the enteric nervous system in neurological disorders https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5005185/
– Tremor in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3582861/

I’d encourage you to take a look at this discussion in the Brain & Nervous System group on Connect, where @tigertoo, who has been diagnosed with POTS (Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) and Vitamin B deficiency, talks about similar symptoms:
– Monthly shaking episodes that continue to progress https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/monthly-shaking-episodes-that-continues-to-progress/
I’m also tagging @hopeful33250 to see if she might have some more thoughts.

I can imagine your worry, @gigiraj; how is this shakiness affecting your day-to-day life? Have you considered causes other than GI disorders?

Thank you, I came here because I have these symptoms, and its scary. On top of the fatigue, and living in a place where seeing a doctor is useless. I have been very worried many nights I am not gonna wake up. I get so dehydrated I can't take medicine to go to the bathroom. Idk what to do. Thank you for this information.

I am going through this and am very scared and I don't want to talk to anyone at home about it, I do not want to worry them, but this internal tremor and heart pain may cause me not to wake up I truly am scared without medical insurance I am not sure what o do. I am changing my diet and I am so tired of the fatigue, Nausia, and tremors, on top of these random (rare bouts where I feel like stuck I can't move or breathe or think or act). If you get any updates on what's happening please share. I am sending good Vibes and Prayers for everyone here.

It is very scary, you're not alone, it gets so bad I can't sleep and I really thought that maybe I was dying and so I didn't want to talk to anyone at home about it, I do believe it's tied to gas that can not get out because when I have gas it lightens up for a few days, and I noticed if I pass gas it eases up. You all have really helped me feel like I am not alone and I am so grateful I am full of tears. thank you!

Hey I read your post. I too suffer from Internal vibrations. You gave me a new feed line to work with. I too have had, not so much now, but I have Gerd n constipation issues. I take Metamucil which helps. Also I e had a Signoid colony surgery back in 2014 and a Subtotal Colectomy in 2017.. Now my vibrations didn’t start until 20’ if Sept so I’ve been struggling with these just over 3 yrs. These are 24/7. I go to bed a wake up with them. Drs did tests n only see a cyst in the spine that fluid might not be flowing through good. I still fight for any answers. I can’t do this rest my life. So many of us have this, Why can’t anyone figure this out yet ? It can get maddening. Feet up to my upper waist and once in awhile I feel it across my left chest and shoulder. Gabapentin helps w my hands abd arms tingling but Vibrations are a different story when they’re 10+ Levels. They’re grinding to the trunk of my body where I can almost hear it. I do have Tinnitus which I’ve had about 12 years now. But I never thought about Stomach or other organs related to the Vibrations till your Post. Of all the Drs of diff sorts too, all say it’s a Brain or Spinal issue. So is there any other Thoughts that I can research 🧐 I need help now. I have excellent insurance for another couple years as I’m 63 now. Hubby says he can’t wait till I’m able for Medicare ( he’s 66) but I feel you get what you pay for. There’s gotta be an answer to this.

Get tested for neurological disorders. Not normal nor is it essential tremors. All the best. Keep digging. Took me 6 doctors to find relief from other conditions.

You should ask Cardio Dr, to do a wireless Halter monitor for 7-14 days.
It will pick up all your abnormal heart ♥️ rhythms .
If you have A-Fib then you’ll need to get on blood thinner like Eloquis .
If it’s benign PVCs or PAC’s you can try what I use . It’s called heart calm ( 3 diff magnesium’s w/ Q-10 and potassium. It’s made in USA and that’s all this comp sells .
I take two if I get any palpitations.
Go to http://www.vitalbiologics.com and read about it . It’s not really expensive $30 free shipping in USA and 90 capsules . It’s saved me many trips to ER .
Also maybe ask your Dr. for Xanax or Something to calm your nerves a bit .
Praying 🙏 for you .
I have that feeling too sometimes and I have bad Gastro issues 10 years.

i have had GI issues most of my adult life. I am diagnosed with colonic inertia and am being pushed to have a total colectomy with an ileostomy. I am a retired RN and constantly looking for any sensible solutions. I also have Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.
I found out about John Barnes and all of the courses he offers for professionals to be certified in myofacial release. He hss passed away, but there are many therapists who have taken the different levels of his courses. If you are interested, look at their credentials to see how many levels of training they did under him. I just had my first session two days ago. It's a whole body experience to evaluate what type will work best for you. My therapist is an MD, but now only does now.

I looked into that years ago , it’s hard to find someone skilled in that type of therapy or massage .At least where I live in FL .
I think it’s a great thing though !!
I do Myan abdominal massage on myself a lot . I have like 6 chronic diagnoses ( GI ), I had it done ✅ by someone years ago and she taught me how to do it myself .
My gas was so bad , I was belching over 1000 x a day ( deep , wet belches that taste like sewer water ! Plus constant churning gut and intestines.
6 Gastros later and 20 tests in 10 years , I still get these symptoms, but my recent doctor put me on Mirtazapine 15 mg at night ( generic of Remeron ) anti depressant.
I’ve tried others and got terrible side effects.
This seems to help me a bit .
Like a 4-5 out of l0 .
I still take Ambien to sleep most nights or else I’m up half the night .
10 years of hell !
I’m praying 🙏 some day to be healed . I lost 10 years of my life trying everything. Good luck 🍀 to all of us !
