Neuropathy: Anyone have any experience with gabapentin?

I have severe neuropathy in both feet and on maximum dose of gabapentin for 6 years. It definitely works between the doses (I take morning afternoon and night) and lets me sleep at night. No side effects for me.

I am taking 600 mg per day, I use to take a lot more. My back is causing my neuropathy but I have to take pain meds with the Gabapentin to get any kind of relief.
I do have side effects, I get dizzy and my balance is bad. It’s like my mind says to go but my body doesn’t respond. I have falling a few times. What else can we do?

I take 2700 mg every day. No pain at all. It has been a wonderful drug for me. I rarely get “foggy” from it.

Right now, I am taking 300mg every 12 hours for TN. I have no pain but have had bad episodes of pain in the past. I think my lack of pain right now is because of taking Gaba but I can't be sure. As an experiment, I am gradually reducing my dosage to try to determine if the Gaba is the reason for the pain reduction. I am an 81 year old male. Gaba does cause some loss of balance for me.

I take 1200 a day. It has helped me. I have nerve damage from Lupus. My balance has been off before the neuropathy . It took 2 years for them to diagnosed me with Lupus. Feeling better now that I have the medication I need.

I took a low dose, maybe 300mg twice a day? I couldn’t tolerate the brain fog and balance problems.

I am on 300 mg twice a day now and didn’t know it might cause brain fog which I am experiencing. I don’t have severe neuropathy like some. Do you have to taper off ?

I was put on 300-600 mg of Gabapentin for restless leg syndrome. It's added to Ropinirole. I had to be on mega doses of prednisone due to a lung reaction to radiation for lung cancer last October, and the ropinirole stopped working. I just kept using it so I'll ask my doctor what I need to do now that I'm off of prednisone. This has all been good information to have because I have realized dome of these side effects.

I have been on Gabapentin for a long time now, for the PN and for seizures. I am up to 1800 - 2400 mg per day now, accompaniedd by 1000 mg x-strength Tylenol with each dosage of Gaba. I was still in a lot of pain and feeling very frustrated when I went to a new neurologist last week who had me add another dosage of my Duloxetine each day, which makes it 120 mg/day and it is helping a lot with the PN pain. And I don't feel any side effects of the increased Duloxetine, which is so encouraging. YAY! I have a positive message about my PN!! 😊

1’m glad to hear the Gabapentin helped your neuropathy but has it helped your Focal seizures ?
I tried it up to 3,600 mg but it didn’t help either Neuropathy or Epilepsy.
