Lexapro withdrawal
I am currently weening from 10 mg lexapro after 15 years of being on the drug. I was put on this drug due to post partum. Having a difficult time getting into psychiatrist due to wait list. I've been weening for 2months and taking .5 instead of 10 mg daily. I was doing fine until 2 weeks ago when severe anxiety hit, no appetite, flu like symptoms and very emotional. Doctor prescribed xanax to help with anxiety and I take only as needed but honestly I'm afraid to take another drug. I see an phych nurse this week and a holistic doctor as well. Taking a multi vitamin, fish oi, B12 and vitamin D as well. I'm trying to figure out if my severe anxiety is due to withdrawal or if I'm prone to anxiety attacks because I've never had anxiety before.

I have been on Lexapro 20 for 10 yrs and now weaning from 10 mg. My psychiatrist suggested Lexapro liquid. It will be written generic.
This has worked well so far as I have really good control with dosage.
I use Hemp derived THC at about 1pm as the symptoms start to affect me.
Just takes edge off and legal in all states
So far on 7 mg daily

4 ReactionsI am trying desperately to cope with trazodone withdrawal. I was on 50mg to sleep and was still tired all day. Tried tapering at half dose but anxiety too high. Now am doing a 12 and a half taper. Only two nights but I am dizzy, weak, anxious and feel like I will pass out every day. I have been on celexa (30mg ) for 20 yrs. Maybe my anxiety is the problem ? Interested in how your withdrawal was. Any advice would be helpful. I do not feel that there is enough help for withdrawal from these drugs.
I am trying to ween off Lexapro. 10 mg for 9 yrs. I just started the process 10 days ago trying to go down to 5 but I just had a huge Anxiety bout for 2 days now. Can’t eat, brain fog, shacky, can’t sit still. My life is very difficult now financially so I think I might wait until I am in a better space all around, work family ect. Do you stay on this drug for life? I am soon to be 65. Good shape. Active. Doing good until I tried to get off again. Fish oils, B12, Testosterone and other herbs. Is there a better option? Combo? Stress is the killer for me.

2 ReactionsI feel bad for you. it seems as though the other aspects of your life are going well. Stress is somewhat a factor too. My hubby had quadruple bipass surgery 24 years ago, so I worry too. I am also taking Lexapro 20 mg. I upped it from 10 mg to 20 mg per doctors advice. I am feeling a tad more tired, but we are moving and don’t want to cut back until after we get settled. We have an almost 3 yr old gsd and I hope she doesn’t feel too much of my problem. Did you talk to your doctor before weaning back to five? Keep your chin up. 🥰

I’m curious if it is normal to be constantly exhausted when withdrawing.

1 ReactionHello, I went off of 15mg to 10mg a month and a half ago and I feel like absolute shit. I am very sensitive to medication. I was wondering what the timeline looks like for tapering from 15mg to 10mg. Is this the best that I can be at(am I fully tapered)? I feel totally disconnected from myself and unreal most of the time unless I'm focusing on something which makes me feel distracted. I have GAD and MDD. Anyone can you please share your experiences or what you know?
Two things, one month and a half ago and you are still feeling adverse side effects. You are also very sensitive to medications. Your timeframe for tapering off may have to be extended. I am also sensitive to medications. Keep a running tab on the symptoms and side effects you are experiencing. It is not just enough to feel like "shit" you must be specific. Are you feeling anxious? Are you feeling unnecessarily angry? Your body may need more time to adjust to a lower dosage. because you are sensitive to meds you can not go by the timeline that someone who has no sensitivity to meds might have or someone who has been taking the same medication for a shorter length of time. You do not say you are doing this with the monitoring of your physician; if so, inform your physician of the symptoms you are experiencing so far.

2 ReactionsGood Morning,
I have decreased my Lexapro, per my request from my Nurse Practitioner from 20mg down to 10mg. I was tired on the 20 mg. This is day #2 for me on the 10mg.
I am wondering if anyone has tapered back on their Lexapro, and if so have, have you had any related side effects? How long before you see a difference?
Thanks,
Heidi
