CT scan radiation and protective supplements

Hello everybody. I believe we are all in the "frequent CT scan" club here so I wanted to share this slide show PDF about reducing DNA damage from CT scans.

Hi JJH: Glad the article resonated with you. Since I have been taking NAC and guaifenesin have noticed a significant reduction in my cough and the thinning of mucus which helps tremendously to get it up and out of my lungs.
As for glutathione, I have no experience or knowledge about intravenous administration. However, I have ordered glutathione that is designed to be added to saline and nebulized. Here is the link: https://shop.thedrswolfson.com/products/l-glutathione-plus

I have not done it yet but there is a research study going on now that is testing a combination of vitamin c and glutathione that is added to saline and nebulized. I will be trying out my product in the near future and post on how I am doing. When you check out the product link, scroll down and check out the "How to prepare" section. It is very informative. Wishing you the best of luck and health!

I have been nebulising that brand of Glutathione for over a year. I still cannot tell if it does anything or not! What brand of the NAC have you found effective? A medical researcher told me the purity of the brand is important with NAC. Do you take the guaif. and NAC on the same day or alternating? Can you tell which is helping more?

This is a very good question "Have you heard if the pill form is just as effective"
Arlo (@equanimous) or Brad (@bradzepfan) or @scoop, is anyone up for doing a little research for us? I would do it, but just got back from a 12 day road trip and am "up to my eyeballs" trying to catch up!
Thanks,
Sue

Be happy to help, Sue!
According to WedMD, "People also take glutathione to try to treat weakened immune systems or infertility, as well as many other conditions...taking glutathione by mouth does not appear to be an effective way to get it into your body. It is thought that glutathione may be broken down by enzymes in the stomach."

Hi Irene:
I take the Pure brand NAC from amazon.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OA6NLG0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I take NAC and guaif together 2x per day, every day. Can't tell which is helping more. But, the combo really helps tremendously.

ok thanks much. Yes that is a good brand. I may try it. NAC has given me insomnia but worth trying again. And taking both at the same time would be something I never tried! Might be too strong for me but could try! Thank you.

My question is specifically about NAC, which is the precursor of glutathione. NAC has been found to work well for a number of issues like inflammation, I assume because it "boosts" the production of glutathione in the body as it is metabolized. I just don't have time to take a "deep dive" researching it for a few weeks.

using liposomal supplements solves the problem of absorption for many supplements. I recall there was something specific about glutathione that made the liposomal only partially more effective than non-liposomal but here is one brand that I have used. They may sell only to doctor offices now but they still sell to me as I used to buy in bulk. Maybe if you told them Dr Johnson from Florida referred you they would sell in smaller batches. I will try to look up the specifics of glutathione and why liposomal only partially solves the absorption problem and report back to you:

I think it is because Glutathione is notoriously hard to absorb? So any form, even Liposomal will have that issue?

In desperation I broke some vits open and put in coffee with honey. Was a pretty bad taste. I am desperate.I have /5 bottles of Lung supplements, mushrooms,Glutithione, etx etc. last night I received Tobrmycin fr Pseudemonas along with Mac and Bronchiectasis .I was having bad thoughts that I cannot continue. This all since 2019. I have no faith in the big 3 although in the beginning it did get-me from the bed. Arina-1 is a trial but they really did not want me bc I was on antibiotics.Vanderbilt has no trials and has not offered alternative to the 3. Iam about to give up or go Functional Medicine”.

Hang in there Libby. If you just started the Toby inhalation, perhaps it will help. Take the time to do it properly. It should target the Pseudomonas which could be the main thing making you feel so sick. Really hope it helps. I know what you mean about bottles of supplements!
