Melanoma of the eye: What helps with pain?

My son has been diagnosed with melanoma of eye and is waiting for proton therapy. He is in pain. Today the level is a 9 out of 10? Is there anything that might help with the pain?

@cinnyd, this must be so hard to see your son in pain. I'm tagging fellow members @twocents @sirimn @treychic @bob45 @rfinkel @sunflower319 @tiredfarmer @me1229 who have experience with melanoma of the eye (occular melanoma). I hope they may have some experience with managing pain.

Thank you for the info and kind words. It is a recent diagnosis. It is large and he is going to have proton therapy.

I was diagnosed in 2018. I did the radiation therapy and the cancer in my eye has not returned. However, after my 1 yr check up they found spots on my liver. I am waiting to hear the results a I write this. I hope your son is doing fine now.
