My eye specialist says my presure is very high, 19 right eye, 17 left
I was having watery eyes practically 24/7 occasionally dry. I told him this. I was given Latanoprost 0.005% I used it for about 3months. I woke up one morning couldn't see a thing for a moment. plus it made the drainage from my eyes worst, so I stop using it, when I went to my next appointment, I told my specialist I stopped using it and why. so he prescribed another eye drop, Combigan 0.5% I never used it becaused it had the same side effects as the Latanoprost and some more. increase water in eyes, itching, swelling of eye lid, ect. Now i'm on Lumigan 0.5% I feel like I have a log in my eye,full of water. For the last three days I haven't used it, my eye feel much better. I looked up normal presure and it's between 12-22 so what gives?

I never had problems with my eyes producing water/tears, however I feel if I keep taking these eye drops I will certainly go blind. I was told by my same eye specialist last year I had a touch of glaucoma, how do you have a touch of claucoma? you either have it or not. I have been told I have cataracts and that I need eye surgery, but my regular Physican say he don't think I need surgery. He told me to go to a good Optometrist and have them to make me a good pair of glasses. I use to be in the medical fill myself, so I might not be the best person to discuss certain things with because II saw and heard things I thought wasn't right.

1 ReactionI have been fighting glaucoma for over 30 years. That just meain I need eye drops to reduce the pressure in my eyes. Many people can control it with just one eye drop daily. I am currently on 3 eye drops: Pilocarpine, Dorzolimide, and Rocklatan. Are you seeing a board certified optomologist? They can prescribe best eye drops for your case, and tell you when it is time to have cataract surgery.

1 ReactionEye pressure limits depend on the individual and whether the pressure is damaging their optic nerve. Most people without eye conditionals can tollerate higher presures than those with conditions such as glaucoma. My optimologist tries to keep mine below 14.

When there is presure on the Optic Nerve, is ther pain associated with it? every now and then I have pain either by my right eye or left.
My specialist says I need surgery, but my MD says he doesn't think so. He also said he has been knowing this specialist for some 15 or twenty years, but lately every time he recommend him to someone, he always suggest surgery. What gives
I was just diagnosed with Glaucoma last year and I just turned 79. Is it possible I had Glaucoma all this time or could trauma caused it?
Glaucoma is usually diagnosed when optimologist sees damage to the optic nerve which is caused by pressure in the eyes. It is also true that glaucoma can be triggered by trauma to the eyes. I'm not aware of any way to tell exactly what the cause of glaucoma is.
There is usually no pain detected when eye pressure is high which is why it's important to see an optimologist regularly.
