Hello @gustavogutierrez10 and welcome to the Parkinson's support group on Mayo Connect. I see that you would like to have an appointment at Mayo Clinic. Here is some information about how you can request an appointment at any of Mayo's three campuses, http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

Are you seeking a Mayo appointment as a second opinion on a new treatment plan? How are you currently managing your PD symptoms?

Hello @gustavogutierrez10 !
Which Mayo Clinic? Is insurance coverage an issue? Are you looking for a movement disorder specialist? If so, what kind? From what I understand, Mayo Clinic Rochester may have better accessibility right now. Even then, the wait may be quite long. But don't let that inhibit you from starting to get in line.

Consider the following link and research providers that seem of interest to you and then make a self-referral. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/movement-disorders/doctors-departments/ddc-20363911

Read many other sections of this Mayo Clinic connect so that you understand about insurance, where to stay, the different clinics. The search button for Mayo Clinic connect should be used quite extensively. Patience is key.

One of the fabulous mentors will probably reach out to you and they are a tremendous help.

Here are my best wishes that you have every success in trying to obtain what you are looking for.

Thanks for your kind response. patient name is Rafael S. Gutierrez and I am his brother Gustavo supporting him. Rafael has Medicare and a UT Care health insurance Blue Cross Blue Shields that supports Medicare so I would see no issue on insurance. He has been wit PD for over 25 years and lately his neurologist diagnosed dementia originated by PD. Most critical issue that we are trying to get help with is the inability to speak ... mouth is collapsed and he can hardly open the mouth ..... Botox applied on the face is not working as it used to. We live in El Paso, Texas. I certainly appreciated your help and will follow your advise on making a self referral. Thanks and God bless you

Dear Teresa,
Thanks for your kind response. I will follow the link to make an appointment. Patient name is Rafael S. Gutierrez and is my brother who has PD for over 25 years. We are looking a treatment plan, Most recently he was diagnosed wit Dementia originated by PD but the most stressful condition that we are trying to mitigate is his speech impairment due to muscles lack of control. Botox applied on the face is practically no longer helping and his neurologist here in El Paso, Texas is no longer effective managing the symptoms so we are looking into a more focus treatment. Thanks again for your help and appreciate very much your help

I had PD 11 years and was treated in Duluth Mn during this time. When my provider in Duluth retired I decided to try get an appointment at Mayo Rochester. I did not need a referral. I called the general appointment number, told them I wanted an appointment with neurology for Parkinson’s. I gave them the information they needed and was told someone would be calling me. It took about 3 months to get an appointment. I was fine with that because it was not an emergency. Because I am young onset Parkinson’s ( I was 48 when diagnosed) I was referred to a neurologist that specializes in YOPD.
