Hi, my name is Bob 58 yo and I live in Rancho Mirage, CA. I was in a skiing accident 16 years ago and did a lot of damage to my back. Have had 4 surgeries over this time with the last being a spinal fusion from T1 to pelvis. Have been on opiods and gabapentin for 2 years to help manage incredible relentless pain. Had to stop working in March 2014. My mental state is very poor. Very depressed. I keep telling myself that this is not going to kill me. Others are in as much pain but not going to make it. My spouse is awesome and supportive. But I feel hopeless often and a burden. Has anyone else been to this point?

Thanks, Jim, for taking the time to respond to me. My doctors don't seem to be as concerned about my mental health as my physical health. Everything with them is what med combo, what other surgery, what, what, what. It makes me crazy. Ill figure it out. Bob

Hi I'm a new member. Don't know too much about belonging to these groups. All I know it would be nice to finally talk with people with the same health problems and pain as I have. Thank you all

My name is Thomas Michael Quirk & I am 81 yr's old. I have been suffering from OA since my late 30's. It has been a long battle. I have taken many medications over the years & most I could not tolerate.Mostly GI problems or they did not work. The 1 Pain Management DR. Who helped me left my area & I have yet to find a replacement. I know what chronic pain is. Most of my joints are effected especially my neck. I have to keep going.

Hello Thomas (@garsoon), welcome to Connect. Thank you for introducing yourself to the other members of the Chronic Pain group. Is it fair of me to assume that OA means osteoarthritis? If so, we have many members discussing OA across Connect, including myself. If you are talking about osteoarthritis, I may ask for your help in starting a new discussion in the Bones, Joints & Muscles group centered around OA.

Hello @janie56, welcome to Connect. I moved your post to the Chronic Pain Welcome discussion so that all of the Chronic Pain members would see your introduction!

You have come to the right place to talk with people who have similar experiences with health and to get support from members who understand what you are going through. If you don't mind, would you care to share a bit about yourself? If you share what are the causes of your pain, I can help find you other members and discussions to join.

I look forward to many comments on general chronic pain. I Judy and have shoulder pain, knee pain, general all over pain. I am taking 200mg of morphine sulphate and up to 5 ovycodone 10 mg pills a day. It works very well for me. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Judy My doctor said there is a limit of pain medication (exception cancer) that doctors will prescribe and that more than that will not help much. Does anyone know what that limit is? My main worry is all the news on people addicted to pain medication. I'm afraid gov. will act to prevent those of us who have chronic pain the medication me need.

Justin, is there an osteoporosis group on here? My doctor has recommended calcium injections like Fosamax, and im wary about doing them because of the horror stories I have heard from friends who have had them. I would like to learn more. Thanks, Gail B

I would be more than glad to help in any way I can. My day is done, but if I can help others I am more than willing. Tommy.

Thank you so much. The weather here is awful and I'm feeling not very well. I do have osteo arthritis to. So the pain is bad today. So you are having a bad day also? So sorry to hear that.
