Newly Diagnosed Senior with Epilepsy, How can I cope with it?
I already put 1 post on board but I need to chat with someone ASAP. On July 18/23 I was told I had begun having Seizures and Epilepsy. I am a 75 year old Catastrophically Paraplegic disabled man with numerous health issues.
I am worried sick about this and need to talk with someone about this.

Hi Billy, I hope you have found someone to talk to locally. I too have recently developed epilepsy (at 63). In my case I believe long covid had a lot to do with it - covid does neurological damage and sets the stage for things like seizures and epilepsy. I’m not a doctor, just a fellow patient like you, but if you have any questions or anything you want to chat about this is is a good place to start. Hopefully your doctors are providing some answers and guidance.
What medication did they put you on intake Kepra
Hi Billy, A Very Good Morning to You!
I know very well how difficult the beginning is when we get the diagnosis of epilepsy and start our treatments. But keep strong and hang here with us!
What kind of medications were you put on? Have you had any side-effects?
How are your seizures? Are their partial or tonic-clonic (convulsions)? Has your doctor told you what kind of epilepsy you have?
Educating myself on epilepsy and my kind of epilepsy has been of great help at the beginning and I continue it with my research. The Epilepsy Foundation has a great website with much material. It has been a great school for me.
I would be available to talk to you online as I am a bit far away ( São Paulo, Brazil). But thankfully, today we have all this technology that has shortened distances.
I do strongly believe that God does not give us challenges that we can not deal with, though sometimes we seem not to have the strength for them!
All my best to you!
