Moxiflacin
After a pause, I am resuming treatment for MAC . I was unable to tolerate azithromycin, it caused hesring loss. My ophthalmologist warned me not to take ethambutol which I had been taking. My new infectious disease doctor is recommending Clofazamine, Rifampin and Moxiflacin. I have had Rifampin but don’t know what to expect from moxiflacin and Clofazamine. Any comments wouid be appreciated.
Thank you

I am just starting Clofazimine and taking with Azithromycin, Ethambutol and Rifampin. I had recent drug levels of those and I just barely reached therapeutic range. I am waiting for instructions if there will be any dose changes?
I hope your doctor mentioned to you the possible/probable skin color changes with Clofazamine. I was on it for 2 years and did have skin darkening. No other side effects. I developed a liver infection on Moxifloxicin and my doctor discontinued it. I was then switched to Nuzyra.
Be very careful when using Fluroquinolone antibiotics, they completely destroyed me. Because of this I couldn’t tolerate any more antibiotics. Look up Fluroquinolone toxcity on YouTube or google before going ahead.
Moxi as well can make you vulnerable to Achilles rupture. So do tell your doctor if you have any plantar fasciitis or have ruptured your Achilles in the past
Thank you so much !
Yes I was told about the skin color change, which I am not looking forward to.. I am not ready to answer the questions about Oh you must have been on vacation, you look so tan etc.
Did anyone have to do ECG's to look for QTc changes that required any dose changes., I am also taking Azithromycin which also causes QTc lengthening putting me at risk for abnormal heart rhythms/
