Welcome @lacey!
We look forward to getting to know you. What type of cancer did you have? What kind of treatment did you have? What makes you happy, frustrated or grateful today?
Hello Colleen, so nice to hear from you. I had lymphoma and my treatment consisted of chemo therapy for about 6 months, with cat scans, pet scans and blood transfusions. I am happy to report that I did not have any pain the whole time and had the best doctor who I listened to, what-ever he told me to do, I did
My systems that alerted me that something was wrong, was loss of appetite, weight loss and night sweats. I recovered after hospitalization and rehab and continued blood tests over time. I never lost hope and today I can do everything , my appetite is full force and I have gained back some of the weight, I feel so good and that makes me happy, overjoyed that my 3 doggies have their "mom" back. I am especially grateful to my doctor, Dr. Anthony and to God who answered my prayers. I still have to periodically take the blood tests to keep my numbers normal and a cat scan every 6 months. Thank you for asking. Lacey
Hi,

I read your post on the cancer and am afflicted with it too.

I have Islet Cell (mid pancreas) diagnosed 2009. Radiation
chemo, targeted chemo and then called further treatment
off due to adverse affects.

Keep your head up and maintain faith, hope and perseverance.
Since keeping a good diet, getting adequate rest, protein use,
and having the ability to change course of thought can help
alleviate depression. Good luck.
Hi, good to hear from you, sounds like you had a different lymphoma than I did. That is why I joined this chat group, to see how others felt about this illness. I am a very confident person, try not to be negative, it has been a wonderful journey so far, especially with the cancer gone ( hope for good ) I do have a healthful diet, I love the protein drink "Ensure", have one every morning and I do sleep good , at least 9 hours a night. I also love to get out in the fresh air with my 3 boys ( doggies) and walk, good for them also. Would love to hear more about your journey so far. Lacey

I know, I recently heard about it and the stores are not carrying the alive yet, if you go into the website on Ensure, you can print out coupons for $3.00 off for a unit. I have been on Ensure ever since my doctor told me to take it morning and night when I still was going through chemo, now I still take one every morning, plus I eat a healthy diet. Thanks for the thumbs up. Lacey

Something to note or learn of with this, if it doesn't seem to help much,
or change situation; seek medical advice on proteinuria. That's where
the protein is excreted from your system before being used properly,
due to various conditions.
I take the Ensure for the healthy part of it, not for any medical reasons. I am either in remission or cancer free since early last year, I will know more after the middle of May after tests are taken. I don't get depressed or worry about it, God takes care of it all. Lacey

I also have follicular lymphoma which was found in a CT Scan which was done when my polyp/ulcer came back cancerous in my Cecum. About the only symptom I have is a shortness of breath. But then again when your told you have two cancers at once. I think this is just maybe a common symptom of a panic attack. They have me on a watch and wait approach for the lymphoma.
Exercise and eat heathy helps our systems fight lymphoma.. Reduce stress too..I boosted my vitamin C to 4000 mg day. We need to keep our immune systems heathy. That helps us to fight the disease. Vitamin D3 our bodies are lacking too. Take walks in the sun..

Regarding Ensure, my therapist (physical) noted a new drink;
Ensure alive (I think) 20 grams of protein in it.
I loved following this discussion today. Since you started talking about Ensure and proteins, I thought I'd tell you about this discussion happening in the Healthy Living group about Healthy Diets for Cancer Patients that @travelgirl started https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/healthy-diets-for-cancer-patients/
