Notalgia Paresthetica help
Hi - has anyone been diagnosed with Notalgia Paresthetica? I've had the itch that comes with this condition for years, but it has worsened over the last year and is now very painful. The center of the pain is under my left shoulder blade. I'm also experiencing numbness in my left arm. I've had x-rays and MRIs but no doctor has been able to address it - or even acknowledge that it's an issue. I've been in physical therapy for months and tried acupuncture but neither have helped, although my posture has improved greatly. Any feedback is appreciated!

Hi lgerkin,
I will definitely look into Flexeril. I am not a fan of sedation effects either. I had taken Gabepentin in the past and I had a bad reaction but can't remember what it was. I will try it for a week but I don't see myself staying on it. I am realizing some things that make it worse. I also take Benedryl at night to help me sleep with the itching. I noticed that if it is cooler in my home or outside the intense itching isn't as bad. Thank you for your advice! As far as the sit pain, I am trying things to help with that also. If you have any suggestions with the sit bone pain please let me know. Thank you
Hi lgerkin, sorry I didn't see your comments on the condition earlier. I have to go for some type of therapy. I became disabled with many injuries and I feel I am out of shape. I will start to exercise a bit and get some of my muscle tone back. Hopefully that will help me.
Hi, kind of in desperate mode. I've had this condition for 5 years that I'm aware of. It has become quite widespread, and my back is hideous to look at with black spots. I also have Raynaud's disease and MCTD, autoimmune. Does not seem to be related to autoimmune?
I've had the dermatology route, x-rays, CBD topical, biopsy, acupuncture, calcium supplement, medical marijuana, red light therapy. TENS unit. The acupuncture has helped with pain and calcium with muscle spasms in the shoulder blades. So thankful for the that but it is very expensive out of pocket. The itching has been unbearable, though. I was advised by a neuro. clinic to try gabapentin topical. I'm willing to try but no appointments for 5 months. It sounds like most of the ideas here are very similar. It also seems like there is no one answer on treatment and what type of provider to see. Appreciative at least to be aware of others dealing with this problem. Thank you for listening.
