I’m 18 1/2 yrs. post transplant and I take no chances regarding vaccinations. Two weeks ago I had the senior flu, latest Covid, pneumonia & RSV vaccines all at once. (2 in left arm, 2 in right) No issues, no pain and no after-effects.

Hi @charlie5454s 😊
It's so nice to meet you! Congratulations on your 18 year post transplant anniversary...How exciting! It sounds like you take excellent care of your health and transplant. It's wonderful to hear that you had all of your vaccines at one time with no issues at all. It sounds like you sailed through the process with a big smile. Awesome!
Which organ did you have transplanted 18 years ago and which immune suppression meds do you currently take 18 years later? I am hoping to celebrate my 18 year post transplant anniversary one day!!

Exact same with me plus got Shingrix vac. I’m only 5 months post transplant. No issues. I take no chances either.

@charlie5454s, I want to send you a belated Welcome to Connect and a sincere congratulations for 18 1/2 years of living because of your miracle kidney transplant at Mayo Rochester! That is where I had my simultaneous liver and kidney transplant in 2009! It is the place where miracles happen and where the care is beyond anything I have ever experienced anywhere!
On my 10th anniversary, right after I had my last protocol kidney biopsy, I asked the doctor what I should do to be sure that my kidney was going to last for 10 more years. His response: Take your meds; follow your lab schedule; avoid alcohol. That seemed pretty easy to me. I see that you are keeping up with your vaccines. So am I, and so is my husband as a result of what my transplant nurse told him he has to do to protect himself to protect me.

@charlie5454s, I would love to hear more about you and your transplant, especially how you are enjoying life now. I hope to be reading bits and pieces as we connect and interact here in the transplant group's many discussions.

I also want to invite you to share your story:
