Anyone taking Naltrexone for Long COVID?

Posted by jamie08 @jamie08, Jul 12, 2023

Just wondering what people’s experience with naltrexone is, does it help, what dose worked best for you? My Dr. Is trying me on Low dose naltrexone and I’m curious what others experienced.

I started taking LDN about a month ago....starting with 1.5 MG then 3 MG and just last nite went to 4.5. I felt a little weird during the nite and sleepless... like maybe the dosage was too high....or do I stick with this dosage and give it time. I know overall one has to take LDN before you can tell if it's working. I do believe I have already had a little improvement.

How much are you taking? It seemed to help my pain and mood at first but now not as much??I have been taking it for about 3 months and am at 3.5.

Are you still having trouble with sleep? I started at .25 mg but when I got up to .50 my insomnia got worse. I stopped and tried again, same problem. So now I'm not sure I want to try it again.

I only had the sleep issue when I titrated to 4.5 mg from 3 mg

Did you continue to take the LDN or stop or reduce your dose due to the sleep issues?

I have gone back to 3 mg...my hope is I will get the full benefit of this dosage in time.

At first, it seemed to alleviate my pain, as long as I didn't over-exert myself. I wasn't whimpering on the sofa during the day and having my sons rub me down with pain relief cream while waiting for bedtime to take an edible. I too, have to take it in the morning to avoid insomnia. I've read about others who have had more energy and have much pain relief, but after taking all of it for 3 months, starting at 1.5 and then 3.0 and then 4.5, I don't notice anything but insomnia and some constipation, (which I don't usually have, ever) I was hoping to not have to use edibles for pain and sleep, as they get quite costly.

My health was in free fall when I started LDN and it immediately stopped the free fall, and then led to some modest improvements. I started at 0.1mg and slowly worked up. Went from 2.0 to 4.0 and that was too much with lots of side effects, so went down to 3.0 (no side effects) and have been on that for more than a year.

Can you elaborate a little more as to why you take it in the morning.? I have thought about switching from nighttime to morning.
