Vaginal atrophy
TO THE LADIES ONLY: As I got older I started developing vaginal atrophy. Then I started developing open splits on my labia that were extremely painful. I went to urgent care one weekend and was prescribed vaginal estrogen medicine. It did the trick but I didn’t want to use estrogen. I went to a GYN that recommending organic coconut oil to use externally only. This was a few years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have never had another problem. At all. I wanted to pass along a natural inexpensive solution to vaginal atrophy.

I’d respectfully disagree…hormones are produced in the gut & the brain via a vasovagal connection, not in our organs per se. Best, M
Is organic coconut oil found in health stores only?
I have found it at many regular grocery stores
use externally only; I am not thinking of using it in a supisitory, but when masterbating and some is inside a little? is that a problem? I thought you could only use waterbased lubes or it created a bacteria infection.
I do not use it inside at all. I don’t masterbate, so I don’t know, but I was told to use “externally.” I hadn’t had any problems using it that way.
I dont use it internally. I use water based lub for masterbation. So far, so good.
I use estrogen cream twice a week and coconut oil the other days. This has helped greatly with my vaginal atrophy. And, pelvic floor exercises.
Thanks, good clarification. I thought it was a replacement for lube.
After a total vaginal hysterectomy in 2016 my Dr told me using a vaginal estrogen in cream form will protect you from vaginal drying and the urethra drying up and
Possible urinary inflammation or UTIs. I use Premarin two or three times a week. Since then I've never had any drying of tissues. The side effect of using hormone replacement therapy is that my hormones have stated at the same level. Avoiding hormonal fluctuations and no menopausal difficulty.
I also suffer from vaginal atrophy and recently started having spotting…an ultrasound was done last May and all was good but it came back again.. I have an appointment for this soon and I’m familiar with the test he wants to do and frankly it’s awful and invasive…since I have dealt with cancer twice they are quick at jumping to conclusions but I understand because I do it too…
I assume you melt the coconut oil or do you let it soften in your hands? This is all new to me.
