Has anyone used the Marodyne device to stimulate bone growth?

Posted by maryeve @maryeve, Aug 21, 2023

You stand on it twice a day for 10 minutes. It gently vibrates and also helps with improving balance. The Marodyne is made in Germany and costs about $3,000. It has not been FDA approved but there are studies in progress.

You really should go back to the discussion by tschurch on the Marodyne as she gives very good information on her experience .

@spine

Has anyone had success with a vibration machine? If so, which machine would you recommend?

It seems the verdict is out on vibration therapy, yet I'm willing to add it to my routine. All things considered everything has risks. My opinion, Marodyne is unaffordable for many of us, but a safe choice. LIV vs a more intense machine is a choice depending on what you've read and decide what's for you. Since NASA has chosen ARED, (Advanced Resistive Exercise Device) I ordered the VT007 vibration machine bc of what I read on their site, and decided it's worth a try. 🤷‍♀️ The owner is hands on, the device is not fancy, very basic, affordable & the engineering seems sound. I need to improve in the hip area (-2.8) & hope to at least stabilize. My next DEXA/TBS will be in Jan24. I'll post my results, just hoping for just a little more help with it. Here's the site.

@rola You motivated me to research the VT007 at the company's website and I read through all the reviews. About 20 were osteoporosis related. I decided to buy it so thank you for the reference. My fem. neck is -2.7 so I'll be practicing the L-Squat on it (check the page at vibrationtherapeutic < dot> com < slash> vibration-plate-therapy-benefits < dot> html (PS - The automated editor didn't permit me to write the link easily so I was forced to write it the way I did)

YES, thank you for that link.!!! I too thought of this when purchasing. Also, no song and dance with this product, pie in the sky guarantees, just good engineering and a 10yr warranty. That's what sold me🥰. Good luck to you and hoping we get good results. Take care.❤️

Wow, that is very shocking! There is another person on this site who used hers for 2 years and was very disappointed that her DEXA results did not show improvement either. However, my understanding is that the Marodyne does not build cortical bone but improves bone quality, the inner trabecular bone. I have been hesitant in buying one because of the expense and because I haven't seen any convincing studies or reviews on its effectiveness especially if you are already exercising by doing strength training. However there is a clinical trial that was taking place at the Australian Bone Clinic where they are using the Marodyne with their Liftmor program but the data is not in yet. Also although Marodyne claims they developed the machine with NASA there is no indication that NASA has ever used it for their astronauts to prevent or improve bone loss. So I'm cautious. Thank you for your review and input.

If it improves bone quality, that may be enough to make it worth using. I haven't read Dr. McCormick's book yet, but in a presentation of his that I watched, he talked about how important it is.

Mt pt suggested a Juvent vibration plate which is FDA approved. I’m not sure if it’s any different from the other vibrating plate, but I bought it from someone that had it two years but didn’t use it much because of the injury she encountered. I paid $500 for it which is so much less than the original price so thought I would try it, I have severe osteoporosis and have been taking Evenity shots for 10 months. I have a bone scan scheduled in February so I am anxious to see if I’ve had any increase in bone mass. I really don’t want to go on any medication’s after the Evenity shots, But I am told I am supposed to, with the vibrating plate maybe I won’t need too.
