Inflammation and bloating

Posted by elenacostarica @elenacostarica, Jan 17, 2023

Hello, im 40 and learning to improve my life after being diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a s Hashimoto’s, and one thing that is being super uncomfortable is bloating for no reason. Early morning, middle of the day, anytime… my lower stomach just gets huge and hurts, then the next day its “normal”. Since I was young I got bloated for no reason too.
Any tips or ideas? My intestines seem to have a mind of its own 🙁

I was recently diagnosed with Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto’s and I also just had my blood tested by a Functional Medicine Doctor for food/chemical allergies. Many foods that you are eating will cause your body to swell/bloat. By choosing to eliminate those foods, you will find that your body will not bloat and you’ll feel so much better. I have eliminated Dairy, Gluten and Soy from my diet since November of 2022 and I felt better almost immediately. It’s pretty easy to do if it makes you feel better. Good luck with your personal journey.

I am hypo as well, and I am losing a lot of hair. Do you have problem with your hair? Yes, I don't eat Gluten, wheat, strawberries, dairy (just eat yogurt sometimes).

I don’t have thyroid problems but did have horrible bloating. I was eating a vegetarian diet at the time it started. I went to a FMD and had a food sensitivity test done. A lot of the “healthy for you” plant based foods I was eating showed up as me being sensitive to. When I cut these out, the bloating went away.

Hair loss like crazy! In the shower, it is just unbelievable, and I had to get a special cover for my shower drain. The hair wraps around the roller on my vacuum and I have to manually cut it off regularly. There is hair everywhere I look! I have really thick hair, but it is still concerning the amount of hair I lose. I understand!

Oh yes, I understand the stomach bloating! I am overweight due to lack of exercise because of a neurological condition causing severe problems with walking/balance/falling, and sometimes I feel like my stomach is going to "fall off" and I reach down & hold it for relief. I know, it sounds crazy, so I normally don't even say it to anyone!😉

What did you cut out?

Avocados, bell peppers, tomatoes, white potatoes, onions and garlic, pineapple, honey, green tea, ginger, to name a few. Each individual is different. What I’m sensitive to may be okay for you.

If you have MS, you may have gastroparesis, where the muscles don’t work properly to move the food through, I have it and manage it by smaller meals, well chewed, less fibre and polyethylene glycol. Hope this helps. Jane

You don’t have to have MS to have gastroparesis, it's where your muscles don’t push the food through properly.
