Has aquatherapy helped you with chronic pain?
I have been diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, severe levoconvex scoliosis, osteoporosis and arthritis. Have a great deal of pain in low back and hips. Dr. Has prescribed aqua therapy. I'm worried it will make pain worse. Has anyone out there had relief from their pain with this type of therapy?

Do the aqua therapy. Join the swimming pool. I am 70. Two months ago I could swim 5 strokes. Not out of breath. Only tired. I have CRPS 2 neuropathy and OA plus other issues. I do the exercises class 5 days a week and I am able to swim 30 laps 7 days a week. I knew I was on my way to a nursing home only to fail quickly and pass. My saggy skin is now firm muscle. I am real surprised. Lots of new friends. Give it a try. Movement with chronic pain is a must. My natural path pain doctor and her wonderful staff are amazed how the pool has helped. PT in the water are great. I do have pain medications. I would not be able to walk at all if i did not. No one should be left to suffer.
Thank you so much for your info. I have an MRI this coming Monday. Depending on results, I would like to get into water therapy and maybe back into pt. But pt gets very expensive.
@singingiade Thank you for your comment, it’s helpful, they suggested it for my back pain
It helped me a year ago for strengthening my knees-both have artificial replacements. Trying again next week. I’ll keep you posted.
I went to six weeks aqua therapy and now go to aquasize three days a week. The first week was hard and I got very sore second week I liked it and now I won’t miss.
Remember: you get exercise reps PLUS extra credit for toning your muscles with the resistance of the water. It’s like two bangs for your buck!!
It is the best!
There have been many types of therapy that I have experienced. There is none that compares to Aquatic Therapy. It is the very BEST. It refreshes the body.
Water allows the body to do more without injury. The therapist is also key to obtaining goals.

Awesome Connie @kalliopeanna! Welcome to Connect and thanks for sharing your benefits from aquatic therapy. I'm glad you feel the benefits. Makes sense, regarding gravity and weightlessness being helpful to joints and pain. What mainly do you use aquatic therapy for?
Rotator cuff injury
Sjogren’s
Lymphedema
Hip X2 replacement
Balance
These are just a few 🙂
