Vaginal atrophy

Posted by HomeAgainLA @llynch17056, Sep 21, 2023

TO THE LADIES ONLY: As I got older I started developing vaginal atrophy. Then I started developing open splits on my labia that were extremely painful. I went to urgent care one weekend and was prescribed vaginal estrogen medicine. It did the trick but I didn’t want to use estrogen. I went to a GYN that recommending organic coconut oil to use externally only. This was a few years ago and it has worked perfectly. I have never had another problem. At all. I wanted to pass along a natural inexpensive solution to vaginal atrophy.

I bought coconut oil at Whole Foods. It’s a solid, but if it gets hotter than 85 degrees, it melts. I discovered that when electricity was off and we had no air conditioning.
I use it daily and also use estrogen cream twice a week. This works great, but i also do the pelvic floor exercises twice a week.
Masturbation helps as it increases blood flow to pelvic area.
There. I said it.

Thanks. I’ve also been using the “solid” coconut oil. I scoop out a bit with my fingers, rub it in my hand and it immediately softens to an oily creamy texture (perfect) by just the warmth of my hands.

Sex is often the elephant in the room. In my case it was the pain associated with vaginal atrophy rather than sex. If I had had a partner, sex would have been a concern.

I have had an impotent partner for 10 years…he doesn’t even want to touch me. This is a problem…men don’t like to admit to their impotence. Vaginal dryness & atrophy is our equivalent. However, we can masturbate to kingdom come & don’t need a man for that! Hope this helps!

Agree, but, with age and atrophy (and, maybe my DNA, who knows) I no longer have any interest in sex. Not frustrated or disappointed. Just personally not interested in it. But, I cheer you on.

I agree about masturbation. It increases blood flow and helps greatly with the ateopy problem.

Those organs were gifted to us for a reason! You can produce pleasure for yourself by yourself as those hormones produced are ‘happy’ hormones so you will ‘feel’ much better & happier! Thank you for posting!! Gratefully, Marianne

I had a complete hysterectomy at 42 and I’m now 76. My hormones are long gone and I don’t want to take hormones to artificially create something I don’t miss. Actually, I’m relieved not to be bothered with hormones any more. 😊 And, I have a lot of delight and laughter without them. I’ve been doing yoga for 10 years, I walk, do weight resistance, have long term friendships. My problem with vaginal atrophy were the painful splits in my labia which were solved with coconut oil.
That said, I cheer you on and all those women out there that want to masterbate. I also cheer on all those that don’t have an interest in it. I think our take away is that women should feel free to pursue, or even just try, masterbation if they want to, or be complete and fulfilled without it if they aren’t interested. I’m a believer in listening to your body and to love it and be kind to it. That can include masterbation or not. Thank you!!!

partner has no desire to get an implant in order to get his love life back? ... so many options now a days to pick from .. I recently got implanted with a mallabble implant .. simplest thing in the world ..30 minute surgery never even took a pain pill .. ready to use in 6 to 8 weeks .. it is firm all the time so there is no pumping up like the inflatable ones .. no moving parts .. easy to hide .. rigicon has a lifetime warranty .. although the older I get the less a lifetime warranty means anything to me ...lol .. I'm almost 70 by the way .. if your partner has any questions have him contact me .. Ed is a terrible mistress to keep obeying for no reason ..
