Anybody else tired when on metoprolol?

I could not tolerate it (dizziness & no energy) and was fortunate that my situation (mild AFIB and 40% blockage in D1 off LAD) was not severe enough for metoprolol to be required long term. Cardiologist keeping an eye on me, losing weight, exercising 3-4 times at gym and test for sleep apnea. I was already on 20 mg Atorvastatin and 10 mg. Ramipril. I feel for those who must take it and pray for healing for you.

Hi @1942marilyne, I'd like to also invite @jbhook, @jeanern01, and @justkiddingkim6 to this conversation to share their experiences with metoprolol as well.

@1942marilyne, is tiredness and fatigue what you are experiencing on your medication?

When I first started metoprolol I was taking 50 mg twice daily. I was tired and had no energy, very sluggish. I know take 25 mg in the morning and 50 at night and it has helped a lot. I also find that working out for 30-60 mins in the morning also helps with energy levels.

I am 50 at night. But took 25 last night and b/p up to 120/80 and pulse 80 down from 97. I will try another night. Get results for a few days and will call doctor. Tired of feeling tired and sluggish. Been this way for months.

I was originally on metoprolol tartrate and I had the same symptoms you’re describing. Fatigue, dizziness, sluggish. It helped a little when I dropped my dose from 50 to 25. After I complained the doctor switched me to metoprolol succinate. The fatigue and dizziness went away almost immediately. I’ve been on 25mg for about a year and a half with no problems.

I too am taking metroporo succinctly. It made me very apathetic at first. I continued my exercise routine as usual. Now, five months in, I feel normal.
