Support Group for Those of Us Living With Mild Dementia
I know there is a Dementia Caregiver Support Group.
I would like to have a group for people like me. I am entering the Mild Dementia phase from Mild Cognitive Impairment.
It’s frightening to think about my future.
Could a group for Dementia Patients be started?

@jackchap
Have you been tested and have results from an MRI that confirms mild dementia?
No tests yet.
Yes, lets have a group for people concerned with memory problems,
My husband has been on the "road" for about a year. He likes sublingual B-12, but we find that simplifying the household processes is helpful. He is still trying to keep his organist position, but I (wife) am finding that he needs a fair amount of support to do so. Music is really a great activity. We got him some anti-anxiety medication, but interaction with pain med (Tramadol) sent him to ER this week, so be careful. He is reluctant to use lists to keep on track, but does have his calendar on the phone. He has physical issues, so bowling went away and there is not much exercise he can do--I feel like it would help relieve some of his anxiety. We have an Optum Community Place that has some chair exercises (following directions is good), movies and talks, so I hope to add that. The Dr suggested therapy for ME (wife) as it is unlikely husband can change behavior over time and remember it. There are caregiver zoom meetings, but I find that they are not practical at this time.
MRI + Neuropsychologist testing will tell the story of where you are.
@marye2 I was tested about 2 years ago and diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment. It’s time for a follow up.
@SusanEllen66, do you plan to book a follow-up for repeat testing?
Hi @walton, how are you doing? What memory problems do you struggle with and what strategies do you find help you?
Hi, Colleen
I make copious notes for all I need to remember- appointments, etc. I also meditate which calms and clears my mind. How about you?
Oh, just noticed you are the moderator, not someone dealing with memory.
Anyway, best wishes
@colleenyoung I have an appointment with my neurologist in 2 weeks as a follow up to my Polyneuropathy diagnosis. I’m going to ask him then to retest me.
