Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?

Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

This is good information for everyone. I wish I had stopped after 6 months. Up to that point had no adverse reactions. I did 11 months and am still struggling with some degree for arthralgia after stopping Feb 2023. I never had any arthritis pain prior to Evenity. I never knew about the 6 month benefit window.

I was told that Evenity is more of a bone builder for the first 6 months and then is more anti-resorptive for the second 6 months.

I was told that Evenity is more of a bone builder for the first 6 months and then is more anti-resorptive for the second 6 months.

That is true and in hindsight I might have switched to just an anti-resorptive after 6 months. I'm on Fosomax now and think I am sensitive to these meds re:muscle aches/joint pain but trying to figure that out.

Yes, Fosomax . I considered Reclast but after experience with Evenity I didn't want something in my body that lasted a long time. Fosomax has been around forever so took the long term proven route.

I can’t take calcium pills (causes extreme constipation which then affects my digestive system), so my Rheumatologist told me to take two or three Tums a day. It seems to be working for me.

Tums active ingredient is calcium carbonate. According to the Mayo Clinic website, this is generally the most constipating form of calcium supplements.

My husband takes calcium citrate because he takes Pepcid. He also takes extra magnesium (with his cardiologist approval) because the extra calcium was causing constipation and as well as leg cramps (in my opinion).

I took Evenity and it did help my bone density. I never had any adverse reaction, and I received it monthly at my doctor's office. Just finished it in October, 2022. Now I'm on Tymlos, and not so sure I like it.

Unfortunately yes and it started just about a week ago. I seem to be able to take Fosomax for 6-8 weeks then get pretty significant hip joint pain. I had that with Evenity at month 7 or 8. I don’t think my body likes antiresorptive drugs. I may try switching to daily Fosomax but waiting a couple of weeks to see if pain decreases throughout the week with 70 mg dosing. It’s just a challenge to feel like I have arthritis when I had zero aches/pains prior to Evenity and Fosomax .

I am on Medi-Cal and Medicare. And my Medicare Part D insurance paid after correspondence with my doctor's office.
