What is the best way to taper off Klonopin?
Can anyone tell me the best way to taper off Klonopin? I feel it does nothing for my anxiety

I'd say you are a fortunate person self-medicating yourself. You shouldn't consume alcohol while on Adderal, Klonopin, Celexa, Guanfacine, or Wellbutrin.
Alcohol, especially in excess generally causes poorer quality and less REM sleep.
I took Klonopin for seizures but it didn't help and I got off it without any withdrawal effects. It took me over 2 years but I was taking a much higher dose.
If you suffer withdrawals you may want to increase your dose until they go away, then restart the taper slower. Of course the best option would be to use a compounding pharmacy. Although insurance may not pay for it. You'll need a prescription from your doctor saying how much of a decrease and how often.

It took me about 7 1/2 months to taper off 1mg of Klonopin and I am now benzo free. It was not easy and I did have withdrawals, mostly related to feeling jittery and irritable during the day, a worsening of my laryngeal dystonia, insomnia, bad dreams and muscle twitches. I'm getting better and now taking 7.5mg of Remeron for sleep. I think it works pretty well but I usually have one sleepless night a week. I would decrease my dose every 6-8 weeks and experience an adjustment period - all the way to 0.125mg, then stopped. Good luck, I'm sure you can meet all your goals with help.

2 ReactionsSo happy for you ! I wish I could do the same . I take 0.5 . I have severe anxiety , depression and insomnia. I take it for anxiety , it does not make me sleepy . My husband has cancer and I am worried 24/7 .
That’s encouraging. I’m tapering and it’s not easy. I’m glad to hear you did it over a long period of time. I’m on week two of tapering .25. I’d that the amount you did ? Maybe .125 would make it easier.

I agree that it is not easy. I started at 1mg and decreased to .75, then .5, then.25 and lastly .125mg. The decrease from .5 - .25mg was difficult and I had more withdrawal symptoms than the other decreases. At .125mg, I didn't feel like it did anything so I did not stay on it for very long. It's a little over 2 weeks since I stopped altogether and I feel like my nervous system is healing. I tapered every 6-8 weeks. If you are now at .25mg, you might try the .125 tablets. Go slowly. Good luck!

2 ReactionsAdd: I was only on .125mg for 3 weeks because I did not feel like it helped my sleep at all. Terrible insomnia! Then I started Remeron 7.5mg and it kicked in after a few weeks, so I'm sleeping much better now.
I'm so sorry about your husband. Mine just had hernia surgery 7 weeks ago followed by a bad "man cold" and when I start to lose patience, I think about how much worse it could be. If Klonopin works for you, and your doctor will prescribe it, then be glad. When I worry, I think about worry never changing the situation or outcome, only my state of being. Take care!
@con123 Thanks! Meeting doc tomorrow.
For me, I was on 2MG of Clamazapan as well as other bentos when I reolized I must get off. I did a lot on on line research about it and it worked. V very slowly over a couple of months tapering down while tapering up on Valium till I was off the camazapan completely then I slowly went off the valium as well. Best of luck
