Your travel tips for Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and Scottsdale please

Posted by mercuryrose @mercuryrose, Oct 25, 2021

I am flying into Phoenix and need transportation Services that are dependable from the Airport, to Hotel and back And forth between Phoenix and Scottsdale Mayo Clinic’s. I am somewhat Handicapped, because I cannot walk or stand for a long period of time. I understand even the Shuttle between Mayo Clinic’s is Not running because of Covid.

Hello, I’m traveling to Mayo Scottsdale for help diagnosing what team of doctors here can’t. I have apt on September 5th and am trying to book travel but other than apt confirmation haven’t heard a word on how long to plan to be there. We are flying so booked changeable flights but trying to figure out hotel and car. Is it normal that I haven’t heard how long to plan?

Hi Imezier and welcome to connect. I from the Arizona area and had my transplant up at Mayo Hospital. It sounds like you going to the Scottsdale location just a few miles from the main Hospital. I might mention there is also a shuttle between the Scottsdale clinic and the main complex. Like most of the others stated it depends on your particular issue as to how long. But a week to plan for is a good starting point. I just wanted to say if I can help with questions please ask. All the staff at Mayo will be there to help you with determining how long it may take. So let us know how it goes and depending on n your medical condition one of us may be able to give more specific info

Thank you for your reply. We are just planning to be there all week. My appt is with Dr Chang-Miller in rheumatology though I do not have a diagnosis. Has anyone worked with her directly?

Hi Imezier, Just checking in. I believe today was your first appointment and I thought about my first time at that Location. I actually was very pleased it had underground Garage as that made for a great place to park out of the Heat. I was also remembering the main concourse of the History of the Mayo Brothers and how it was a nice place to sit when I had breaks from the appointments. So I hope you time there is helpful. Good Luck in you quest to determine a great outcome in your condition.

RE: Mayo Phoenix to Scottsdale round-trip shuttle
I am not from out of town, but I live in the far West Valley (Sun City) and I must say that this Mayo Shuttle is a Godsend! My first visit to Mayo Scottsdale, I asked a friend to take me, but it ended up practically an all day event, and our return trip fell right into the 5:00 traffic rush! I couldn't ask that of another friend, but somehow I found out about the shuttle, and if I hadn't, I would not have been able to continue my referral testing and treatment, which was extensive. The shuttle itself is a lovely vehicle and the drivers are careful and friendly. I always give them a tip because they must load and unload my walker, but I was shocked to have them appear shocked about getting a tip! I think it is the least I could do! Thank you, thank you, thank you Mayo, for this wonderful patient service. I so appreciate it!
