Your travel tips for Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and Scottsdale please
I am flying into Phoenix and need transportation Services that are dependable from the Airport, to Hotel and back And forth between Phoenix and Scottsdale Mayo Clinic’s. I am somewhat Handicapped, because I cannot walk or stand for a long period of time. I understand even the Shuttle between Mayo Clinic’s is Not running because of Covid.

Almost forgot.. loved the Frank L. Wright museum. My fav attraction.
Hi Dave, Welcome to our home away from home, I had my transplant there in 2018 an a frequent visitor. I live about 70 miles south of the campus but am familiar with the area as I would stay at hotels near the campus when the visits were lengthy. Being Jun when you arrive it will be hot so I would probally make sure your vehicle is serviced before coming. On that note depending on the length of time your here and how far you want to travel for siteseeing your on the almost direct path to northern Arizona like flagstaff, Payson plus the grand canyon is about 2 hours from Phoenix. But for hotels I like 2 hotels about 2 miles from the campus the Marriott on the campus is very expensive and if you have a car the 2 I mentioned are a Holiday Inn and a Cambria Hotel next Door to each other. Don't forget to mention your a Mayo patient as you will get a discount. Very clean both of them and the Holiday inn has free full breakfast but the Cambria is not free but cooked to order. With a large shopping mall only about .5 miles away with lots of restaurants. And even a little strip mall near the hotels. That has places like subway type eateries.
Your are coming tho at a less expensive hotel rate since in the summer our rates drop almost in half. No one comes here in the Summer typically.
So please let me know if I can help further.
Blessings
@danab Thanks for the response and suggestions. It appears there are 3 Cambria hotels in the area, the one at Fashion Center, Downtown or North Scottsdale; which one are you suggesting, Once again, thanks for the info.
Dave
Yes they love to play with city names in that area but I believe it's the Scottsdale one the best way I remember is it's on E. Irma lane and it's mailing address is Phoenix but they call it the Phoenix -North Scottsdale one it's about 2 miles west of the Mayo Hospital Campus if your looking at a map it near the intersection of the 202 and 51 , the other 2 you mentioned are quite a distance from the Hospital at least 20 to 40 miles south
@danab Thanks so much!
Do you still have the number of the person who can do a pick up at the airport?
Thanks!
Hello, I’m traveling to Mayo Scottsdale for help diagnosing what team of doctors here can’t. I have apt on September 5th and am trying to book travel but other than apt confirmation haven’t heard a word on how long to plan to be there. We are flying so booked changeable flights but trying to figure out hotel and car. Is it normal that I haven’t heard how long to plan?
@lmeziere Welcome to Connect. That may be a difficult question to answer if your doctors don't know what is wrong or what tests need to be done. When you begin as a Mayo patient, they will evaluate your condition and refer you to any other specialists and tests they need for diagnosis. They try to schedule that efficiently within the capabilities of the departments and patient load. I was a patient at Mayo in Rochester, and generally they tell patients to figure on being at Mayo about a week to complete testing and evaluations. Of course, that is subject to change any time. Mayo lets you try to get testing done early by being on standby status where you check in and wait to see if there will be an opening in the test centers. Because some patients finish early and no longer need appointments, that opens up access for others who are waiting. You could also call the department where your appointment is scheduled and ask how long you should plan on staying there.
I have had a lot of flexibility with hotels who added days to my stay after my surgery (partly because of snow in Minnesota and driving home) and many hotels allow you to cancel days if you do not need to stay as long. Discuss that when you make reservations and ask for a special Mayo Clinic patient rate.

Hello and welcome! I hope the docs at Mayo can figure out what's going on with you! I seem to remember I planned on staying 7-10 days. I did get a changeable ticket and I reserved my room for 10 days just in case. After the docs saw me they would order tests and procedures. The schedulers did their best to get me in and work with me on dates and times. I did have to return again in a few months. I stayed in the hotel across from Mayo Scottsdale. I was just at Mayo 2 weeks ago. The hotel is under renovation and the restaurant was not open but the hotel is open and my room was clean and comfortable. I usually bring easy food for bfast and eat at the hospital cafeteria or get it to go to eat in my hotel room. The hotel (Sonesta Select) has a shuttle to take you back and forth to the hospital. Hope this helps.
