I will be 83 tomorrow and have had a multitude of seborrheic keratoses for close to 50 years. In 1992, one large growth on my back I thought was a SK turned out to be a melanoma for which I went through two surgeries, 30 days apart. The surgeon recommended I get these other red bumps I had diagnosed and they turned out to be Grovers Disease. GD often flares up and itches a lot but mine did not until 2007. It then itched for 18 months until a Derm prescribed Gabapentin which stopped the itch for 13 years but the itch started up again about 22 months ago and hasn't quit. Of course, the SKs continued to multiply and get larger. I'm sure they itch at times as well. Derms tend to shy away from freezing them off unless they are in areas that could cause other problems. Two years ago a Derm surgically removed a very large one which took a couple months to heal. No fun. If you want to clear out a swimming pool, go swimming without some sort of shirt on.

It's 10 months later and I've got even more SKs than I had before. It seems like most of the new ones are on my scalp and have a tendency to itch a little. Still struggling with the Grover's Disease as well. Also discovering Basal Cell Carcinomas at various places. Had a Mohs surgery on my shin which got infected and took almost 9 weeks to heal completely. Two more will be removed in August. You have to be tough to get old.
